1. How long are the bulbs expected to last?

2. How expensive are they?

3. Can you change them yourself? If so, how difficult is it?

Thanks

1. Depending on the model, about 2,000-3,000 hours or so. It depends on how it's used and somewhat on luck.

2. Depending upon the model and where you buy, between about $365-$550.

3. Not hard at all.

Rib,

Thanks for the information. My Dad is looking at the 72" model so I can only assume that it will be the price closer to the $550. The main concern for him was changing the bulbs.

I think I will stick with my 51" Hitachi. LOL I cant afford $550 every couple of years.

Thanks again.

In rear projection they are 5000 hrs, and 250 dollars for a new one, and yes they are user replaceable, just get the model # of the bulb and you can order it from most parts websites or the manufacturer.
