Okay, so here's the deal. I've got an iMac hooked into a stereo set using a 3.5mm splitter and then a pair of 3.5mm to RCA converters. This is, of course, mono. I'm getting really tired of mono now, and I'm wondering if there's any way I could get stereo through this setup?

You'll get stereo if the 3.5 mm (1/8") plug is stereo. It will have two stripes on it (known as TRS - tip, ring, and sleeve). If your plug has one stripe it is mono and that is the problem. You can buy a 3.5 mm to 2 RCA adapter cables anywhere - $5 at Radio Shack or $20+ for Monster at Best Buy and the like.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

MDS is, as usual, spot on. As an example of that type of cable, you can check out this link to one on Amazon.
