Contemplating new room arrangement that may entail going from the current 4.1 (phantom center due to fronts being within inches of HDTV, a center is in place) to 3.1 in an almost ideal location. The specific benefits of going 3.1 would be good separation of the fronts, much better placement of the sub and prefect location for the center.

Question: In your opinion, how well will my Denon AVR-1912, or any AVR for that matter, do of mixing the surround audio in wth the front audio (Infinity Alpha 50 Tower fronts)?

Addendum
Possibility of a 5.1. If my wife would go along with such a scheme there is a long shot possibility for high wall mounted surrounds angled down (8' wall height with top of surround speakers being at about 7'). High wall mounting must be used due to open concept configuration. Oh hand, I have one choice for the surrounds, Infinity Alpha 10's. The current Alpha 20 surrounds are physically too big. I could try finding a pair of satellites but then there is the issue of using mixed brand/type speakers. The big benefit for using satellites is their small size.

Question: What is your opinion about using high wall mounted angled down surround speakers? What is your opinion of using satellite speakers for surrounds?
