I got another one of those when they were $100 after rebate, great drives for the money. However, the rebate comes in the form of a prepaid Visa gift card, which isn't as good as a check, but just as spendable.

Fry's just had a deal on them, $107 each, I picked up 4 of them, I figured that was a pretty good deal, and I HATE mail in rebates, just won't do them....

either way, nice to stock up on them to fill the server up the rest of the way, I think I still have room for 5 more :D

Very good price for 2TB of storage. I just can't get over the aptly named "Deathstar" nickname for these. I'm sure they've sorted out the quality issues, but its a tough one to forget about... -TD

Well, it's been a long time since Hitachi is in control, however I did post link in the wrong topic
The drive on sale is WD and thou it's 2Tb, it's the Green series and it's rpm is roughly 5200-5900Rpm - However I bought it several month ago for $110 and have none-performance related issues for storing large size files

Funny you mentioned theose, I picked up a couple 1 TB WD 'Green' drives about 6-8 months ago and a WD 'Green' 2TB drive about a month and a half ago from NewEgg and they've been rock solid and quiet as a church mouse.

I'm just using mine for A/V streaming, so I don't need the high performance drives and the slower RPM and cooler they stay, chances are they'll last a bit longer... -TD
