$2k starter system help

As title states, I have a budget of $2k to start my sound system. It's a medium size room with 3 walls. Left side opened to kitchen. Back wall is floor to ceiling windows. Right side has fireplace. Couch placement is tucked against the wall with windows leaving around 9 ft from 70" TV. The room has 22 foot ceilings. It's the main living area and very active with kids. Adding surround satelittes may be a challenge with no space behind seating. Use will be 70% movies, 30% music.

Option 1.
Marantz sr5010 - $900
SVS Ultra Bookshelves (pair) - $1000
Starting the foundation on 5.1 set up.

Option 2.
Yamaha YSP-5600 Atmos SB - $1600
$400 subwoofer of choice.

Option 3.
Open for suggestions.

Pros and cons for both. 5.1 system will produce better overall sound quality but will take time and cost more to complete. Room restrictions and high traffic are a concern for multiple speakers. Installation.

YSP 5600 seems more convenient, projects 7.1.2 sound, and complete system. Easy installation and wall placement out of reach of children. However, concerns about bouncing Atmos speakers with 22 ft ceilings, and no wall on left side. Sound quality and volume may not be satisfactory.

Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I would rule the Yamaha soundbar out right away. Getting a starter 2.0 system is a good idea if you really intend to add more speakers and especially a sub. With no space behind the seating, I might just forget about surround speakers. Your system may sound worse with them than without.

I would rule option 2 out. Option 1 is one good way to start, but for that budget there are many great starting options as well. I'm sure you will get many suggestions soon. Would give some myself if I had more time to look up stuff.

SVS typically does holiday sales, so keep your eyes peeled and you should be able to get them a little cheaper! (or take a look at their refurb section as well)

I think 2.0 is the best way to go. To think that marketing propaganda will tell you all you need to know about how a speaker sounds is just plain gullibility! I urge you to go out and seek as many speakers as you can, bring familiar media, and hear them all!

That said, the Ultra's were spectacular when I reviewed them, and found them to be one of the best values in the line up. Take a look under Write Your Own Review sub forum, Bookshelf Shootout should be near the top.
