I am looking for a 27" flat screen CRT. I have narrowed down my search to either a Sony WEGA or a Samsung Dynaflat. This tv is to replace a Sony 24" WEGA in the computer room that recently died after about 4 years. I sorta would like to stay away from Sony if possible. BUt in the end I am out for the best picture and I really want a tv where the text wont bleed. I dont need a HDTV.

Anyone have any hands on use with the Samsung Dynaflat?

thanks folks!

My experience with Samsung tube TV's (and computer monitors as well) has not been good. They seem to develop problems too early in their lifespan for my taste (under two years). YMMV. You might want to consider Panasonic units as well.

I have been nothing short of impressed with all of the Sanyo TV's I have owned. They last forever and they are are cheap. I have one that's 25 years old and still works like new, another is 15 years and the newest is 4. Picture quality is excellent as well. I have connected my 27 Sanyo to my PC via S-Video and the picture is sharp.

If I had a TV die in only 4 years I certainly wouldn't buy another of the same brand unless I knew that they had improved their quality control. Sony's quality control for CRT's has been going downhill for years.

i recently bought the sony 27HS420, and it's picture quality is great. i know you'd rather stay away from sony, but this set may be worth going back to them...

Sony's quality has gone down hill over the past 10-15 years, especially when it comes to their CRT's. I have a friend that makes a living repairing TV's and other electronics. He wouldn't recommend a Sony TV to his worst enemy as they are nearly impossible to repair (within a reasonable budget) and break too often. I've been browsing Craig's List and there are quite a few newer Sony TV's that do not work being given away or sold for cheap.

i got an extended warranty thru sony for 3yrs for in-home coverage for $45, so at least i'll be covered for a while. i previously had a panasonic tau for about 4yrs and that thing still works great, so consider that one if you are worried about long-term reliability

If you are gunshy of Sony, you still will probably want a set with a Trinitron Flat Tube.

It has been a while since I have researched it but I am sure you can find someone like Mitsubishi or JVC that makes a CRT TV with this tube.
