Folks, got to see this film yesterday. One thing that stands out in my mind, is that it is quite lengthy. Of course, that is not always a bad thing.:) Hey, there were some great special effects AND there were some lame ones. The audio effects were, as expected, top-notch. The plot was highly predictable to say the least. All in all I will go ahead and be generous by giving this film a C+. ;););)

Cheers,

Phil

Phil,

Thanks ... I liked the SNL spoof of 2012 "going rogue"

My son said it sucked.
LOL..........well John I did not think it was that bad. As mentioned in my op, I was being generous by giving it a C+. Truth be told, perhaps I should of rated it more like a C. But hey, it is the holiday season already so I thought I would be generous. ;);) Therefore, your son is not too far off base imho. In other words, he may have a point..........LOL!!!! :p:eek::p Hope all is well my friend.

Cheers,

Phil

And just what did we expect from the director who brought us epics like Independence Day, Godzilla, the Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC? Laid back disaster? A meaningful actor's film? Or lots of digital FX, running and screaming, crashing, and smashing?

Take the lamest rationale for the end of the world since the comet Kahoutek, add in lots of water and you get a film with arks in the Himalayas, 20,000 foot tsunamis and earthquakes that register a 60 on the Richter scale.

It was worth a few chuckles. I went to my least favorite suburban mall cineplex and thought the sound wasn't loud enough. That's saying something. I'm not sure exactly what, but apparently Emmerich says that this is his last disaster flick. I guess with no world left, it's about time.

10,000 BC is one of the worst films I have ever seen. ID4 was OK; at least it was fun.

I certainly agree John that 10,000 BC was somewhat of a flop. The film 2012 was better imho-but not by much.

Let's hope it is his last film period. He should start selling ice cream or fishing reels, because he doesn't have a clue about how to make good movie.

I saw it.

The theater was awful. The center channel kept going in and out, and sometimes it sounded as if someone was applying some sort of filter. The picture was crap as well.

As for the movie. It was pretty crappy. Almost as bad as Spider-Man 3, but not quite.

So, I take it you did not like it too well-right?;) It is a very close call between Spider Man 3 and 2012. In other words, one would have to flip a coin to decide which one was worse imho.:eek::rolleyes:

Well, we left our comfort zone and went to the theater to check this out on the big screen. Crazy over the top action/disaster, so much it made you laugh at times. Effects were amazing. As for the theater experience, sound was decent, the bad thing was, the wall sconces that usually go dim were left on a cast a bit of light on the screen on the corners  . Staying home is so much better, but ever once an while you have to venture out. Next up, Avatar. Oh, and if 2012 doesn't make your Ultra happy, then something is seriously wrong! :)

Independence Day is sssooooooooooooooo much better than 2012 in every conceivable way imagineable.

Personally, I thought the FX were way too animated for the most part. Lets just say I have seen much better FX wise. Glad that you like it though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. ;):);)
