2 subs - 2 speakers on a 2-channel amp?

See my signature. As you can see, my 2-channel system actually includes two 2-channel amps - the C372 driving the mains and the EP2000 driving the subs.

Thanks Bryce
i also have a similar setup with the same subs and jade 5s and the same amp.
My next 2.2 is going to be Sierra towers emo amp with some home made subs powered by crown d class amps

I spend the most time listening to the above system in the pics I think it just fits together well and sounds the best in that room which has 24 foot ceilings and is open to most of the rest of the house (dining room, entry way rear parlor office and there is a loft over half of it....

that rosewood system in the pics is no longer available in the us, the subs are also hard to find around here which is a shame because they are some of the fastest most musical subs I ever heard... I own 5 of them there original price was 1399 each lol but I paid much less. Probably why they didn't last long in the us.... The evo2-40s were originally around 2000 but I bought them on sale from mdirect. That entire system only cost me around 2200 with the woodwork crossovers cables ect....

Nice systems! I'll get there one day. Have you ever run 2 speakers in series on one channel or is that usually unnecessary?

so you would get 1 channel signal through 2 speakers that would be mono, Im not sure what your asking. If you run 2 8ohm speakers in series than you will end up with a 16ohm load. so are you talking about 2 towers wired in series on each stereo ch. for a total of 4 speakers, or are you talking about 2 drivers in one cabinet? Just a little confused what your thinking...

I was refering to the latter being two towers or monitors on one channel creating a 16 ohm load on each channel. I am trying to understand the different wiring possibilities and their effects and uses. If I am understanding this right 16 ohms creates more resistance from the amp and underdrives the speakers and bottlenecks the supply in the amp causing the transistors to overheat if it goes below its designed impedence? My amp has a rated sensitivity/impedence of 1v/50k ohms and the frequency is 5-100khz according to the manual. What does this tell me?

The 1v/50kohm sepec is for the input. Presumably it's saying that it reaches full output when given a 1v signal from the preamp. More concretely I can say that the 50kohm spec is the input impedance of the amplifier, this is a fairly normal number and would require a bit more explaining to get into. The 5-100khz spec is stating that the amplifier is capable of outputting power in that frequency range keeping a linear output.

As for wiring speakers in serial, there is absolutely no reason to do this.

Was I somewhat correct in the rest of my statement? I am learning as I go and I appreciate the feedback.
