2 Questions on Denon 1920

I am looking to buy the Denon 1920 DVD player and I have two questions:

1. Has anyone out there had problems playing Dual Discs on this player? I know some players cannot read the music side of Dual Discs because the disc does not meet the Compact Disc standard.

2. With the introduction of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players, is it reasonable to think that an upconverting DVD player such as the 1920 will drop in price in the near future?

Thanks.

I don't know a thing about the 1920, other than I kinda want one. But in response to your second question, I doubt it. Honestly, I think HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is gonna be a niche market to begin with. And it *might* stay that way for some time. It's not necessarily something that the average joe is definitely gonna buy, so I think SD-DVD players are gonna stay where they are, price-wise, for a while. And the 1920, which appeals to audio- and video-holics such as ourselves, is something of a niche item as well, right? So I'd imagine it wouldn't drop too sharply in price any time soon.

But then, I still consider myself a newbie in all these matters. What I've just said -- take it for what it's worth.

Frankly, I'm a little curious about it myself.

cheers,

Most DVD players will play Dual Disc. The problem isn't that the players can't read the discs, it is that the discs are thicker and sometimes may physically not work in the player - as I found out the hard way... My 2900 plays the few dual discs I have, and I plan to buy as few as possible because I don't want discs that may not play in most or all of my players - the workaround: I burn the redbook side and use that. The 1920 will not likely drop in price until new models are near release.
