2 M504's for one Transnova 120?

Does anyone know much about the Accoustat Trans Nova 120?
I have had 2 Onkyo M504's for about 5 years,(bought them new),
and I want to get one really nice two channel amp. A local dealer has offered
me an Accoustat Trans Nova 120 for both of my Onkyo's. after looking
at the age and price of the Trans Nova I feel that this is not a reasonable trade. Am I all wet on this or is my intuition correct? I hope it's ok to ask this type of question on this forum. I'm just trying to figure out if I am making a big mistake. My apoligies to the moderator if this is not the correct place to
post this. Thanks for your advice and opinions!!

Well, that amp was made for Acoustat's electrostatic speakers. I would stick with the Onkyos. I don't know what would happen if you used said amp to drive conventional speakers.

The Trans Nova Twin is older than the Onkyo amps. It had a retail of $500 new, the Onkyos each had a retail of around $800-900. The Onkyo amps are very nice, don't trade them for the Trans Nova. I wouldn't trade one M-504 for the Trans Nova.

The Trans Nova amp would work fine with other speakers, but I have a feeling the Onkyo can handle more intense loads than the Trans Nova does. Both are Dual Mono amps, but the Onkyo is quite about more stout.

The M-504 is a popular amp, and has good resale value, the Trans Nova isn't so popular.

I would personally slap or punch that dealer in the face for making such a greedy offer.

The M504's are going for $450 on ebay. So is the other amp worth $900? I just checked ebay for the Accoustat, and there is a listing for a TNT-120 right now. Is that the amp you are talking about? Watch it and see what it goes for. You can get a pretty nice two channel amp for $900 clams.

Hell, sell those 504's on Ebay, (I owned a 506), go to audiogon, and get a hot amp. There are two channel ss amps out the yingyang there. For under a thousand you can get an Aragon, Sunfire, BelCanto, Naim, Linn, etcetc.
Just my two cents, but that accoustat doesn't sound like a bargain.

There are two TNT-200's, one is going for $700 and will end in just under a day. Check that out. The TNT-120 is fetching $62.95 with just under a day left. Keep an eye and see what happens!
