2 kicker 10's or 2 alpine 12's

Okay I need opinions on which would sound better/be louder/hit harder etc. I have an option of 2 kicker L5's which are 10's they are a dual 4 ohm subs that do 450 rms each. Then I have another choice to get 2 12" alpine SWR1243 Type R's which are also dual voice coil and 4 ohms and they can do 600 watts rms. Whichever one I get will go on a Phoenix gold 1500.1 mono block amp which does 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm which is what I would like to wire the subs down to. Also these are going in a 2002 ford F-150 crew cab. I know it sounds simple enough that with bigger subs and more rms the alpines would be better but I was going to ask just to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. Thank you for the answers ahead of time

This is a home theater forum, not much car audio on here.

But, that being said, go with the 12s. When it comes to subs, physics and moving air is the name of the game. Bigger surface area can move more air easier. However, I'm sure that 2 of the 10"s would be plenty of thump too.

I would not recommend wiring it to 1ohm, that is a tough load to drive.

Enclosure volume should also be taken into account. If space in your truck is limited, you might benefit from the tens in a smaller box. If you have to put the 12's in an enclosure with inadequate internal volume, your bass could suffer. Do you already have cabinets in mind, or are you going to build / have them built?

Just a prefab box that is made to go in my truck, I believe each sub would have about .66 cubic feet of airspace in a sealed box

And the wattage for my amp is 1500 at 1ohm and 1100 at 2 oh mm s btw after I checked it

The manual for the Alpine SWR1243D recommends 0.65 - 1.25 cubic feet (optimum 0.9 cu ft). That prefab box will *just* work (assuming it's deep enough to accommodate the mounting depth), but you'll need to cram in a bunch of polyfil. Looks like the space requirements for the Kicker are similar from what I could find. Is it the Solo-Baric S10L5? Well, anyway, all things being equal, go for the Alpines, and invest in some ear protection. You'll miss your hearing when it's gone.
