We recently purchased a home that is pre wired for the home theater in the family room and there is also prewired for the patio outside. My goal is to be able to listen to music outside on my patio and watch tv inside but would like the luxury of being able to play the music both in and out. Is there a way to set this up with one receiver and two input sources or do I need two separate systems? Sorry for the basic question but sort of new to this.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can do what you want with one receiver. There are receivers that have two or three zones, and some of those allow you to power both zones. You can play the same or different sources in those two zones.

If you have a specific budget, we can try to help you find a receiver that will fit both your needs and your wallet.
