I been thinking with the klispsch rp280f ill probably never buy a center and don't want to mess with a sub after reading load speakers and sub and all the problems you can have. So I was looking at 2 channel recivers would there be a difference in sound with a 2 channel 100watt compared to a avr 100watt. The only thing hooked up to my avr are ps4 pro 2 speakers, I have a cd player and a turntable not connectd but with a 2 channel I would probably hook them up. Music is playing in my house most of the day tv at night for a movie or a couple of shows, wife watches tv more but doesn't care as long as she can hear it. I have a denon 540bt right now but don't want to change unless a 2 channel would be even a little better.

5.1 channel receivers can play in the stereo mode.

Yes mines in stereo but no turntable hookups an don't know what my cd player sounds like never connected after hearing how bad the turntable sounded . I have A.D.D so about 30 minutes into a show it goes off an music comes on, might take me all day to watch 2 shows an movie forget about it 1 hour is all I can handle, an might not finish it for 3 or 4 days if ever. I do art work refinish furniture around the house all Hobbes while musics playing along with helping wife clean and take care of the kids , dont work so plenty of time, even though it doesn't seem like enough most of the time.

What problems are you concerned with a subwoofer? Even with towers I don't like listening without the subs.

If you want to use your tt with that avr you need a phono stage/phono pre-amp unless your tt has one built-in. I'd just use the avr in 2ch mode if that's what you want. I don't know what problems you're referring to with subs, but if you don't want the lower bass and are happy with two speakers....

ps If you do sell the avr and buy a 2ch receiver it'll be spending just that much more than you already have for what gain?

Oh i cant remember all the stuff that was talked about in the article its in the need basic advice under marriage of sub an towers. Plus the fact is there is only one spot in my living room where I could put the sub an its probably not the right place. Plus I dont know what im missing have never really had a sub. The way things are it sounds good to me turn it up to 45 an the floor starts vibrating the floor. Im a head banger from the 70s and 80s but mostly alternative rock now. Ive mellowed now that im older, rock music is not really that bass heavy, an these speakers do a great job with it.

Turntable has preamp sounds awesome with my intergrated amp like crap on avr. Amp is not connected only one pair of speakers an the avr has hdmi intergraded amp doesn't .

I'm a headbanger from the 80's myself! I like a lot of alternative too. This thread might interest you.

It sounds like you want something that you can hook your turntable up to, an integrated amp or stereo receiver with a Phono input would be the way to go. If you have floorstanders with good bass, you don't need a sub. Subwoofers are for movies lovers.
