I am wanting to receive my HD signals via an antenna on the roof of the house I just bought. My problem is I also have cable and only 1 cable/antenna input on my 42" LG tv. Is there such a thing as a switch box for my predicament or am I going to have to program the channels every time I want to watch HD?

Well, yes and no. Yes, you can buy a 75 ohm switch at RatShack and elsewhere.

but, most modern TV's go through a "Search" procedure when connecting to a new cable source, and this takes a few minutes. You'll have to go through this each time you switch cable inputs.

Does the cable box offer any other output choices that you can feed to another input on the TV? Remember, unless you've got HD cable, most likely a simple (yellow jack) composite input will me more than adequate for the 480i signal they output.
