Hi Fella's, I've been in the market for a new 2 channel amp for awhile now & couldn't believe the prices I was getting. Then I read the recent thread about the Behringer A500 amp. It sounded pretty good so I figured to give them a try. I ordered 2 from Parts Express at $179.99 ea, no tax & free shipping plus a 45 day return policy. I figured I didn't have anything to lose. Let me tell you I am VERY, VERY, VERY pleased w/ their performance to say the least. I have them in bridged mono mode putting out 500 watts per channel each. My mains ( AAD 2001 monitors ) never sounded better, sweet, smooth and w/ plenty of dynamic punch when called for. The sound is extremely neutral w/ no coloration added from the amps. These amps run absolutely quiet as a church mouse & barely get warm to the touch after being on for hours, I also have them stacked which is not a problem. I was very hesitant to purchase because of the price. The fellow at Parts Express laughted because he hears it all the time. Maybe all the other amps are just so over priced & we fall into the marketing plan of these companies that have us believing that audio gear that doesn't start at about a grand & up just isn't any good. I don't know how Behringer does it for the selling price but I'm not complaining. On the other hand what makes an amp at say $5,000 worth it? Do these companies have us all snookered? I would like to put the A500 amp into a Krell or Mark Levinson chassis & have a blind ABX test w/ some so called "golden ear" audiophiles. I would lay money that thay all would flunk the test. Do not be afraid to try this amp, you will be extremely pleased w/ it's musical performance!!! Boy I love saving money too!!!
