First of all I would like to thank everyone on these forums for their input. Been browsing postings for the past 3 days during my due diligence for a new system to put into my living room for 50/50 use on TV and Music.

Room dimensions are 12x14 and I am looking for a 2.1 system to start out with and possibly grow in the future. I think I have the speakers and receivers narrowed down to 2 selections each and I have an old sub from an ancient HTIB I previously owned in college.

Could use some feedback on which speaker and receiver some of the more informed would go with.

Speakers
Cambridge Audio S30's
DT 350's

Receiver
Denon AVR 1613
YAMAHA RX-V473BL

OK, I have owned both of the speakers and overall, I do prefer the
Cambridge S30 for music. > The Cambridge has a lower -3db point
on the bass and the bass is more tight - and the Cambridge tweeter
is easier on the ears. The Cambridge is more coherent sounding with
the music, and I am drawn more into the source. The tweeter can be
more distracting with the Definitive and the Definitive can get a little
more edgy or harsh sounding. >> The Definitive will have a little bit
more detail and can play louder. > For home theater, I will give the
edge to the Definitive as it can sound bigger. > The Definitive at the
normal list price of $498, falls short. Also, the somewhat larger and
bigger sound of the Definitive, does not trump the Cambridge > The
Definitive woofer is only 1/4 inch bigger than the Cambridge, > and
the 8 inch passive radiator of the Definitive, does not trump the the
bass port of the Cambridge.

The new Definitive Studio Monitors are much better, and I do prefer
the new Studio Monitors, over the Cambridge S30 speakers.

Denon is my choice for the receiver - the lower end Yamahas are not
as efficient in surround mode.

Hi Jim, Which model of the deftech are u referring to? 55 or 65? :)
