I'm assuming that 14g copper speaker wire is good enough for short runs less than 20'? Bookshelf speakers.

Regarding Sub: Does cable quality seriously effect Sub output? I have an 8' RCA sub cable, but not sure of the brand. Likely a lesser expensive Best Buy product.

Thanks, Ken

The only difference between 12AWG and 14AWG is peace of mind for the audiophile, the loudspeakers won't know the difference.
Long RCA interconnects to powered sub-woofers (or any other destination) should have a heavy braided shield. Long is this case being well over 15 feet.

14g is good for a 2 ohm load, up to 20' and 4 ohm load up to 40'.

20' and 40' are MAX lengths. Make sure your measurements are accurate if you are nearing those max values.
