12v trigger on Onkyo TXNR-807

I just purchased an Onkyo TXNR-807. My old receiver had a switched output that I used to switch on my power manager. My problem is that the Onkyo has no switched outputs. I tried to use the multi-zone trigger to switch the power manger (it has the option of 120v or 12v triggers) on but it does not seem to work. Any suggestions?

Have you setup the trigger configuration in the setup? You will need to set one of the three triggers and which zone the trigger be used. I believe they are all off by default.

Hm. If the haven't changed anything from two generations before, and I doubt they have, the triggers don't work for zone A/1. :(

Their pre/pro's are another story, of course.

I have been through all of the setup menus and have not found one fo the triggers. I tried to use the zone 2 trigger and selecting zone 2 but no luck. Thanks anyway for the replies.

That's the first thing that popped into my head as well.
As I recall the previous models only allowed the the 12v trigger to activate the zone 2 devices. I would have thought that Onkyo addressed the issue, but maybe not.

It's true; the triggers on the 807 are for Zone 2 & 3 exclusively, and you have to set them up (from the menu), as indicated in your manual.

If the triggers operate the same as Denon, you can't just activate Zone 2 or 3, you have to activate a specific source in those zones. I used the 12VDC triggers in a system to turn on a McIntosh amp, the triggered AC outlets on a Furman conditioner, both ON and Both Off, by using VCR1, CD, DVD and VCR2 as the sources. I wasn't using any of the zone 2 functions for audio because he wanted to use his B&K preamp for the whole house audio, so this worked perfectly.

Check in your manual, near the end, for Zone 2 connections and trigger's setting. (Zone 2 has to be ACTIVATED, and the Volume control set for that Zone also).

* And don't forget that only analog sources (red & white RCA jacks) can be used for Zone 2 or 3.
