Hi fellas,

The stats on my new Home Theater room (in my basement) are 12' x 13', w/painted walls, 8' high ceiling, and new berber carpet throughout.

These following components I am leaning toward purchasing in February are:

Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK (50" Plasma)
Yamaha RX-2500 (A/V Receiver)
Xbox 360 (CD/DVD/Games)
Aperion 533-PT Towers (Fronts)
Aperion 533-VAC (Center)
Aperion "NEW" In-walls (Rears)

I have done the research and understand all of these components to be of high quality. My question is, given the dimensions and setup of my room, will they all be extremely effective and appropriate or simply too much (overkill). More specifically, are a 50" plasma and the Aperion Front Powered Towers too big or overwhelmeing (audibly or visually) in a 12' x 13' room (and I'm not talking appearance)?

I am hopeful that they will work well...

However, please share your honest opinions!

Thanx in advance,

-Tiffany

50"???

Man, if you are vewing from 12 feet, that means you should have about a 106 inch diagonal projection image going on if you have light control in that room.

There is only one possible way to do home theater - front projection and a big screen. Everything else is just TV. ;) :) ;)

I don't believe in overkill - have fun!

Clearly. I use a 27inch in a 16x12 room. Mind you, it has better picture then a 50" anything :D

No, no - smaller is NEVER better, don't you know that!
:p :p :p

Really, the lines of sets tend to remain the same no matter what the size is, so it is always a balance between viewing distance and screen size... Oh, and a heck of a lot of personal preference.

When we stopped using our projector as a 'daily viewer' the step down to a 50" plasma was tough to take. Strange, yet marvelous world, this A/V stuff.
