Can anyone tell me, what is the 12 Volt Trigger used for?
I want to install a computer fan to my a/v rack, and I would like to know if I can use this input to plug it in?

In short - it's a sensing trigger to determine whether a device is on or off... When used correctly, it'll allow you to turn on a receiver and have an amp switch on along with it, or in the case of some components which have a single on/off switch, keep your remote from turning off a device when you turn on the rest of your system...

Do Not use it to power a fan, use a wall wart plugged into the switched outlet on the receiver. This outllet usually puts out about 15 - 20 mA. Not enough to drive even a small fan. My Yamaha manual says it is for commercial use whatever that means.

This may be a dumb question, but what's a "wall wart"?

A DC power supply that is self contained in a small plastic cube. It included the AC plug, transformer, rectifier bridge, maybe a capacitor, and two wires connected to a universal DC jack. commonly found with a lot of toys.
