12-volt trigger question

I just put a new Rotel RB-1080 amp into my system with the 12-volt trigger wire connected to my Yamaha's "control out" jack which seems to work OK to turn the amp on and off with the receiver controls. OK, I notice that the red LED on the Rotel stays on all the time even when the system is in "stand-by". The amp appears to power off OK because it cools down. Is this how it's supposed to work? With the LED on full-time?
(Power switch to the Rotel is left in the "on" position per manual instructions; 12-volt trigger switch set to "on" per instructions).
Thanks for any response if your familiar with these hook-ups.

yep,
thanks, Major...I followed the manual...the amp's power switch is "on".
I just wanted to be sure that the red LED is supposed to stay on even when I shut the system down. Everything appears to be off...amp cools down, etc but the LED remains "on" at all times. Just checking if this is "normal".

if you have an all black rotel amp, then yes, the red light should be always on. (that's the LED near the power button)

OK, thanks mike c, I thought so. Yes, it is the black RB-1080. BTW, is the silver faced model different?....that would be curious.

the silver faced rotel would have a blue power LED and still a red "protection" button.
