I cant tell what youre having the problem with if it’s the rxa or tv which menu is the speaker setup tv or rxa which makes you hit return and im not sure what a guitar has to do with your system so i really cant tell whats wrong with arc ?

after hitting return a number of times on remote for Yamaha it goes to the Yamaha guitar picture from receiver (after before having speaker setup on screen) then if select tv again is ok & I have sound from my receiver I think my tv is not compatible with arc as sometimes switches other times dos not but even when dos switch to tv with sound through receiver it goes off after a couple of seconds then as I said have to hit return again till homepage showing guitar is on again when I do this I get sound from tv that stays on funny thing is dos not seem to be effected when I change my smart tv from ! tv to u tube ? dos that explain the problem? love the receiver playing through kef r 500 r200 kef q surrounds but may sell and upgrade to 1060 as it has dtsx which I want and maybe receiver is faulty? as fed up with it reverting to speaker setup every time I turn on tv even though I exited it a long time ago.

Verify that your HDMI cables are connected to the correct equipment (DVD/Blu-Ray player, TV, etc.). The piano/guitar pic on ur TV should only be visible when the "Input" (AV1, AV2, etc.) is not connected to anything. If that fails move the HDMI cable currently connected to the ARC connection (HDMI OUT 1) to HDMI OUT 2 connection for testing purposes. Also recommend that u power down the RX-A1040 AVR every time u move/connect the HDMI cables to a new input on the back of the AVR.
