You can tweak Audessy just fine. I can adjust X-overs, EQ, distance, level, for each speaker, for example, after Audessy has done it's thing. Or am I missing something? I don't know if you can actually adjust the Audessy EQ after the fact, just one of it's settings. Can you adjust YPAO entirely?

If I were you, I'd stay away from Onkyo. They're really known for not being reliable. Edit: though I did just read that they may have improved reliability with the 818 series, so who knows? Seems like a bit of a gamble to me, though.

I'll take physical media over streaming any day. Physical media doesn't (usually) just crap out for no reason like streaming can. Plus, with DRM as a concern, I distrust streaming even moreso. No thanks.

Honestly, if I were you, I would try to find an equivalent receiver from either Denon, or Yamaha. Onkyo's and Sony's are not known for their reliability. Are there any features out of those two that you need? How many HDMI ins are you going to use, for example?

Yeah, the only problems I've had with HDMI so far are when a cable fails, and even that doesn't seem to be too often. I'm glad I haven't upgraded anything yet, and I'll be waiting for a bit, 'till there's new equipment out, to take advantage of the new spec :)
