Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

QLED and Neo QLED are just marketing wank terms for the old LCD technology. They use a cheap LED backlight, which then requires a diffuser layer to spread the light before it gets to the LCD. That diffuser layer is what they call "Quantum dot" because it is like painted glass with tiny dots...

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

After some thought, I'm going to give the Sony A80 a shot. The price is not the worst, and nobody has said anything bad about it. Thanks for the advice guys.

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

Back to my previous question, has anyone seen the Sony and thought the colors were exagerated, or is their color processing always welcome? Perhaps I am worried about nothing, and their XR is all good.

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

Yes, as I mentioned in the OP, I would prefer my TV to be a display only... But there is no off switch for that junk, so just to change inputs you need to suffer through the problems. And I'm not making this next part up... when I unboxed my brand new LG 10 years ago, it was already slow, and...

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

LED is different than OLED. My 42" LG is about 10 years old.

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

Hmm, I wonder why I didn't get a thread updated notification. Anyway... I have mixed feelings about the Sonys after looking more into them. What concerns me is I think they are falsifing colors with their "Cognitive Processor XR". I get the strong feeling it's just a marketing gimmick I will...

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

Interesting. The LG C1 seems to be identical but lower price and more bulk. I'm undecided on that. Good recommendation. The Sony Bravia seems to be built using the same LG screen as the LG C1/G1, so I am unsure why the price is higher. ?

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

I have a 42" LG LED now. I could write a book about how trashy the smart-features are. We had to abandon the smart features and buy a Roku stick just to use it. The LG features were so slow it was like a frozen computer every time you clicked something. The remote would shutdown to save power...

Buying advice for an OLED TV in Nov. 2021

I just started browsing for a new TV, and am looking for recommendations from others that have been down this road recently. For comparison, my search so far has landed on a 55" LG G1 OLED. My priority is image quality, but not necessarily 8K. I want vivid colors, high contrast, 4K. If it's...

Selecting AVR and speakers mainly for home audio

You are going to want to assign them properly as frontLeft and frontRight. If you want a more immersive experience, the receiver should have a setting to include your surround speakers. I think MultiStereo might be the setting name.

    Klipsch speaker power

The blinds should help with the upper frequencies, but probably won't do much at all for the bass. Do you have one traditional wall you could hang thick acoustic panels on? Or even better, a bass trap in a corner or two. If you have a picture, I'd be interesting to see.

    Klipsch speaker power

It sounds like you are all set with equipment. I would strongly suggest some acoustic treatment for the room next.

    Klipsch speaker power

It seems to me it would sustain theater level volumes with no issue. Do you have a subwoofer?

    MusicCast an Wi-Fi network drop-out

Just for information purposes, there are routers out there that can bridge the 2.4 band to the 5.0 band. That way a 2.4 only device can be on the same local network as a 5.0 only device and talk with it. I have an Asus RT-AC88U and this works flawlessly. And another feature is I can create a...

    Disappointments with new AVR

Denon discontinued this X1400H receiver today. It's been replaced with the X1500H on their website. I have initiated a return for the following reasons: 1) Bluetooth will not discover on new 1 year old HP computer running Windows10. It's incompatible. 2) Screen-casting to a Roku (in AVR's...

    Disappointments with new AVR

Boy, if everyone on this thread dogpiled on Denon like you dog-piled on me these babies would be pimpin'. I'm talking to you guys because manufacturers don't built things the way they want to, they build the way the buyer wants it built. This IS the right place to discuss this. As for the...
