Details of DIY Ultra WAF in Wall System with TL SUB

Saw your "Ultra WAF" system. Amazing stuff. Will need to re read it several times as I would like to incorporate some of the idea. Here is my Ultra WAF invention. You wont believe it. I think I posted somewhere in Audioholics about it but in case you havent seen it yet...

The end of the Wife Acceptance Factor! Automated Drop Down Speakers

Well, I used one motor for the right side and right rear, and one motor for the left side and left rear. I originally planned to use 4 motors and I could have. But by using the two everything stays more in sync. IF I had done this pre construction, I could have used one motor for all 4 speakers...

The end of the Wife Acceptance Factor! Automated Drop Down Speakers

@snakeeyes Sometimes I like to swing on one to the point where I can actually transfer to another without touching the ground. If I am very careful, I can make several circuits around the room. Its great cardio.:) Yeah, Im not budging on the subwoofers. I may paint them or at least powder...

The end of the Wife Acceptance Factor! Automated Drop Down Speakers

Agreed. And if you notice, my main speakers are in a cabinet! This is because I did have to make compromises and would definitely prefer the main speakers standing out in the open. However, the cabinets are 3/4 inch high quality maple veneer plywood internally braced with both inner...

    Wiring

I disagree. If they did not use the connector wires (One small black on left, one small red on right) the speaker would literally not emit sound in that setup. The small wires simply act as a bypass of the biwire or biamp setup and is perfectly legitimate. Although I would prefer that both flat...

The end of the Wife Acceptance Factor! Automated Drop Down Speakers

I could, and I considered it, but Im very concerned about putting Subwoofers in walls. The resonance problems would be horrific. Perhaps I am not as knowledgeable on this subject, but I chose to not do that. If I could be convinced that the bass would not be compromised I would definitely...

    Wiring

That picture shows a single cable to the speaker. It is neither bi wired or bi amped. Its simply connecting the tweeter and woofer together with the single cable.

And here is video of basically how it all works: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Av3i5wnAumFGgodqmXuXHsufnx1GvQ It ended up taking a lot more time than I originally envisioned. The ceiling also has 2 inch 6 pound rockwool absorbers with a 1 inch deadspace in between them and the ceiling. The bass is...

    Star Drek:Discovery

I love the show. The writing is good, and directing is even better. Some of it is attention grabbing for the sake of attention grabbing, but thats ok. The effects and computer models are first rate. The sound is good, but shame on them for not doing it in 5.1. Its only stereo. Kinda lame.

    advice on living room setup

Or, you can go insane like I did and build this so that your speakers are perfectly located. This is just the left rear and left right speaker. Im recovering from surgery and have not motorized the right speakers yet. The atmos ceiling speakers are built into the ceiling and are/will be covered...

    advice on living room setup

Ok. You have one of those typical horrible totally non symmetrical and off center situations with a giant opening into other rooms. Its a pretty bad room to do this in. But like most, it is what it is. So short of building a dedicated room, you will have to do what you can to get the best sound...
