Choice of equipment for music listening

True, I guess as long as it sounds good to the individual and puts a smile on their face is all that matters. Heck look at the Beibs getting these Millenials to put millions in his pocket even he sounds like sh!# but at the end both sides are smiling.

Choice of equipment for music listening

Not a Millennial here, but yes smart TV with a Samsung soundbar at most they bought on black friday and thought it was a deal of a lifetime like the earbuds they got free with their iPhone and say nothing else makes their american idol videos sound better unless it came in piano black, sorry...

Would wiring 4 super tweeters per speaker box increase life of tweeters?

Super, with all those tweeters you never know what you'll get out of it. I get tempted to rig something up like you did to get more highs which I prefer over bass when listening to music. But I only know enough about the crossover world to risk something going up in smoke. Are you going to put...

Would wiring 4 super tweeters per speaker box increase life of tweeters?

Damn, talk about DIY that's that real deal right there, overall how does it sound or are you still fine tuning it?

    Speaker Zone select through wifi

Oh damn that's a big one they missed, maybe with enough complaints they'll add it to the next firmware revision if even possible. But the relay diy project sounds exciting for the results it will provide.

    What is "reference level" ?

The problem is just with movies from a quiet scene to sudden volume spikes of explosions, yelling, gun shots, car crashes, etc. which I understand is normal but wish I could control it. I don't mind the sudden increased volume but it doesn't have to be six times louder to enjoy the show. I will...

    What is "reference level" ?

What about connecting a Compressor to the AVR to do a better job managing audio levels? Are those only for pro equipment? I don't have XLR connections on my AVR but I don't mind spending $500 if it will work.

    What is "reference level" ?

The compression in Dynamic volume is probably why it sounds bad when it works, the audio sounds as if it's being masked and loses clarity, not just simply lowering the volume. And it doesn't seem to control loud TV infomercials. They should provide settings to allow us to set maximum dB levels...

    What is "reference level" ?

What's the best way to shift reference level down on the AVR or other to limit (~70 dB max.) high peak volume levels while watching movies? I tried the settings below on my AVR but most times it does nothing. When it does work, the sound quality changes in a negative way. Dynamic Volume Heavy...

What about using a tablet docking stand hardwired to the integrated amp but it may only have 3.5 mm audio jacks.

Shared LR speakers (8 & 6 Ohms) wiring in parallel, risk and rewards?

My guess is the combined 6 and 8 ohms in parallel will lower total impedance to around 3 ohms and smoke the Aiwa's first as more current will be going through them. Voltage will remain constant across the load but current is what kills. If you're going to try it keep the volume whisper quiet...

Marantz SR7010 -- Issue and crossover settings question

You can check settings for HDMI Control, ARC, and TV Audio Switching. Depending how you have everything wired the 7010 could be doing what it's told to do and not have any hardware issues.

    Power Ratings in Modern AVR's

Halon451, just curious do you know for sure if it was a brand new Marantz unit Best Buy sold you? The reason I ask is because I believe there's a lot of used/repackaged/demos/returns floating around. Crutchfield shipped me used SVS subs even I purchased new. Since then I have been checking...

    Power Ratings in Modern AVR's

Possibly the Marantz is defective if all channels driven are not putting out i.e. power supply issues and you mentioned the unit gets abnormally hot too. My Marantz SR-7010 doesn't get very hot even driving all channels on a full Saturday. I put an external fan ontop the AVR when I first got...

    Power Ratings in Modern AVR's

A factory reset is easy enough to rule it out, lots going on in that AVR. I factory reset everything new out of the box for peace of mind to know for sure I'm starting from scratch, never know who touched it from the assembly line to your front door. A firmware upgrade is a must too even if it...
