    PSB Image Speakers

I'm in the Milwaukee (WI) area. Also I am willing to ship, but it will likely be pretty expensive. Let me know if you are serious and I can work with you on shipping costs.

    PSB Image Speakers

Everything is in pretty great shape. Just a few dings on the B15's. Selling these because I just moved into a new house and am doing all in-walls. Would prefer to sell these locally and will drop off within 100 miles on Milwaukee. If shipping I'm willing to split actual shipping cost. Prices do...

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

Oh ok now I understand why we are arguing. I was making the argument of USB vs internal SATA controller, not USB SSD vs USB HDD. Now I understand where you are coming from. Yes the SSD would still be faster regardless - what I was saying is that putting the SSD on a USB bus as apposed to a...

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

SSD <1ms seek time. SSD connected via USB >10ms seek time. I don't know how that comes to ~50% performance loss but sure.....with data storage, latency=seek time or time the data takes to be read/writeable. I'm not upset at all - I'm just trying to point out to the OP that "I had an SSD once...

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

So....what? This unscientific poll from end users proves your point somehow? The majority of our end user machines at work run SSD's for boot drives. In the year and a half I've been there I have not had one SSD failure (60 or so machines) and several HDD failures. USB latency adds AT LEAST...

Tangled up in all the wire(less)s

The bridged mode is for bonding two wireless routers together to form a LAN over wireless. IE like a bridge. If you are planning on running a LAN cable between the two you don't need bridged mode. You should be able to just set the secondary router to "router" mode and disable the DHCP server...

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

Yeah...on paper SSD's have more reliability than platter drives.....so excuse me if I go based off the MTBF numbers as well as my own experience instead of someone on a forum spouting "yeah this one time I had an SSD and it failed but my HDD's did not". All electronic devices are susceptible to...

I'd be willing to do that - I'll check back if/when they offer us any partner deals.

Recs for a Good Solid State External HDD?

Wow this thread was hard to read.....lot of misinformation and rabbit trailing... 1. You said "central" so I assume you want more than one device to be able to connect to the content on the drive 2. Instead of an external drive you could go with a NAS as suggested for a comparable amount...

ASUS pundit super cheap htpc $50 on geeks

Pentium 4.....ugh.....you would be better off spending a little more and saving on power in the long run. And with only 1GB of memory you are really limited on what OS you can run - I wouldn't even suggest running XP on something like this. Your only option would be something like the openelec...

    free media player recommendations

VLC is nice as it plays everything and is very customizable as far as filters, codecs, outputs, and decoders go. It is not however an all inclusive suite of seamless media. Its beauty is in its simplicity and its bare bones handling of media. XBMC is what I use for all of my HTPC's and the new...

    Any knife nuts here?

We just picked up SOG as a new client at work - here's hoping we get a nice fat discount if I ever need to purchase any of their products. We have their whole catalog in house for shooting - got to get hands on almost all their knives, flashlights, and multitools.

Fort Worth passes some really low noise limits :(

I agree that sometimes officers need to show up if there is an altercation, however passing a law like this gives busy-body neighbors free reign to send cops on nitpicking noise complaints all over the city. Which IMO is a massive waste of resources. You know what kinda neighbors I'm talking...

Fort Worth passes some really low noise limits :(

I think thats great. The police officers are put in place to protect and uphold the law, not play doctor Phil and to conflict mediation between people that can't get along.... This is IMO another waste of police resources. Take it to the city/town council or another court authority just as...

    Wiring a home network

Usually for a bar/party environment you want to have the ability to at least mirror a source across multiple displays. If you wanted to get fancy you could buy some stuff to allow you to mix and match your source distribution, but thats a lot of green.
