I purchased a package of tacks with white heads to use for marking speaker position. Sadly, there seems to be no change in sound quality. Perhaps the tacks need to burn-in.

On a positive note, they avoided a lot of really bad Windows versions over the years.

I'm generally not a big fan of Bose, but their QC25 headphones are quite good and the noise cancelling is very impressive and useful for travel. And I think they are priced right at your budget.

Compromise. There is no audio system on earth worth more than a happy marriage. I've spent a good part of my life with some pretty screwed up priorities--a lot related to audio. Maybe she has a point.
