    R.I.P. Fry’s Electronics

REALLY sucks about the Drafthouse. Was always my theater of choice. However, it was a bummer that they CHOSE to stay closed most of last year. Whereas the Santikos chain boldly pushed to stay open for all but a few weeks at the beginning. I'm sure that there were more underlying issues for...

    R.I.P. Fry’s Electronics

Fry's back in its heyday in the late 90s was something magnificent. Was always a pilgrimage I'd make when passing through the DFW area. Blew my mind as a teenage computer and A/V nerd. I know it's been on a death spiral for many years now, but I'll always have fond memories of what it WAS back...

Is it time to Ditch Vinyl?

Exactly. I'm kind of an 'all of the above' type of guy. To me, there's really no wrong answer. I've even gotten some sick satisfaction out of garbage quality 8-tracks. Haha.

    SVS dual sub question

Great points, guys. Yeah, if things are measuring THAT good, I'd probably just call it a day and enjoy the existing sub. You might get more tactile response from a 2000, but your results are not bad at all. I'd maybe just chill for a bit. Respect.

    SVS dual sub question

They'll integrate just fine. Don't overthink it. Just dial them in to even them out. I would definitely not mind throwing in the PB-2000 into the mix. You can get them to blend fine and the 2000 won't even be working hard at all since it'll be throttled down a bit which might help its longevity. :)

Is it time to Ditch Vinyl?

Been loving my Hi-Res digital files when I want convenience, but there is NO replacing the tangible aspects of vinyl. ESPECIALLY in regard to the artwork. Nothing quite like the experience of a well put together sleeve, complete with a good booklet. Some of the records are also art in and of...

Just used Heos for the first time

Huh. Interesting take. I use Airplay regularly and haven't perceived really any noticeable difference from standard BT. Except I'd argue that BlueTooth when utilizing aptX surpasses Airplay. Both however, seem subpar to my highest quality vinyl, SACD, and hi-res digitial content though, but then...

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

Fair points. I would NOT mind a back to basics approach like some of the geekier conventions. Take TooManyGames in Philly for example, or the PAX expos to a lesser extent. WAAAAY more down to earth and attainable for the average guy. It's all about sharing the love of those folks passions, ya...

    FS: RBH SV-1212PR Reference Subwoofer

SOLD! Sorry for the super delayed post. Didn't realize I neglected to mention that until a forum member inquired about it yesterday. Doh!

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

Lol. I LIVED for the winters. Didn't bother me one bit. Even if they do go from like September through June and I'd occasionally see -50. Maybe I have some Scandinavian blood in me or something. Getting a big snowblower was a game changer, though. :)

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

    I agree. Very true.

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

Truth. My store was in Montana. Gorgeous location. :)

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

That's awesome. I didn't mind educating people or spending time with them, as it truly was our passion. We mostly just got annoyed when they'd use our resources to make a decision and THEN purchase said product from an online source like Amazon. And then want us to be their "tech support." Like...

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

Yup. The worst would-be "customers" were the ones who'd come in like once a week for months on end, hemming and hawing over a decision. My sales staff would spend inordinate amounts of time with them, helping them navigate the ins and outs of the products, pricing, keeping them apprised of...

    RBH Sound Owner's Thread

Really? It's been a few years since I talked to the guys at Emotiva, but when I was working with them to figure out a unique solution for a customer, I found their customer service to be most excellent. Kind of like many of the other smaller audio companies, it'd go straight to a real live...

FS: RBH Impression Series R5Bi Books & R56Ci Center!

Sorry for the lack of updates, but just needed to state that all units have been sold. I might have a demo pair of R5Bi books coming up soon though, so stay tuned for that. Thanks for the support, everyone!

    RBH Sound Owner's Thread

Woh!!! That IS good news! Whoever did their cabinets for their SV series did absolutely top notch work, so I don't mean to detract from that, but if they can pull manufacturing for that in-house to Layton, then that's awesome! I know that disruptions in their supply chain has been a point of...

    RBH Sound Owner's Thread

Sure there's more bang for your buck out there, but there's a WHOLE lot more to it than simply slapping a few components together. And while those Monoprice subs certainly represent a great value, they're not even on the same level as far as cabinet construction goes. The RBH sub is simply...
