HELP: How to improve dialog clarity without center channel?

Update Thank you, everyone. The problem has been largely solved by making the following changes. 1. Moving left and right speakers away from the corners. And bringing them closer together on either side of the TV. About 5 ft apart. 2. Putting a delay of 5 msec. 3. Covering the glass coffee...

HELP: How to improve dialog clarity without center channel?

Thanks. Let me try that. Also I will try to bring the two speakers closer together and away from the glass windows. That may also be causing the problem. Good to know that having a phantom speaker setup in not the problem as I really don't have space for a center speaker...

HELP: How to improve dialog clarity without center channel?

Thank you everyone. I still have the same problem. And have not been able to solve it with dialog enhancer. Not sure if I use the MultEq correctly, but enhancing the dialogs did not improve the situation. I feel the problem maybe reflections from side and back walls from the front speakers...

The Audyssey MultEQ Editor app users thread (with facts and tips)

In the following graph the top line seems to be DEQ RLO 0. That is giving the max boost to bass. Is that correct.? I thought that DEQ RLO 15 will give the max boost. Please comment. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Did you use the close mic technique with REW as suggested by @Jon AA to get these results? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

After the latest AVR update, my multEQ also has trouble finding the AVR. Just keep trying and it will find it. Some people say that moving the AVR from DHCP to static IP address solves this problem. But I have not tried that yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

I thought the boost that Audyssey is placing around 200 Hz could be responsible for that. I would have to confirm with REW if that boost is needed or was placed there by an error in the algorithm. Most speakers have higher distortion below 300 Hz than above it. So boosting in that region may...

I thought the boost that Audyssey is placing around 200 Hz could be responsible for that. I would have to confirm with REW if that boost is needed or was placed there by an error in the algorithm. Either way, it is not preferable to boost the signal in that range. Most speakers have higher...

This is very interesting. I have 3500h. And I get the same issue but only on my right front speaker. And we know why. Audyssey is seeing a dip at about 200 Hz in my case and 350 Hz in your case and is trying to provide a boost of 7 dB in my case and about the same in your case. Clearly, our...

Thank you. With that in mind, and since XT32 is so widely available, do you think it could be available as a custom SQ improvement service by a home custom installer? I assume, once perfected, it would take about 2 hours for a pair of speakers. Would it be worth for a homeowner to spend an...

Do I need volume control knobs for in ceiling speakers?

Look at eBay or Amazon. They are called Tripath amplifiers. Depending on amplifier rating and volume requirements, multiple speakers can be tied to one amplifier. One example is below. Keep all of them at an accessible place so that they can be replaced on upgraded later...

Do I need volume control knobs for in ceiling speakers?

Installing volume control costs about $100 including labor. So if the application is background music, look for a $50 stereo amplifier on eBay or Amazon. One amp per room will be sufficient and each will come with a remote to control the volume. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Thank you. You said, "Yeah, the MultEQ app only shows and allows you to edit the target curve for speaker pairs. So don't mess with that section of the app when using Ratbuddy." Did you mean, "don't mess with that section of the app when using, MultEQ? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using...

Excellent write up. Thank you. I see that Ratbuddy allows us to create a custom target curves for both front left and front right speakers. I also see that MultEQ sends both front left and front right curves to the Denon 3500. But I can only see one front curve in the MultEQ. Do you know...
