    First Stereo Rig

My first "system" was a Yamaha CR420 receiver, a JVC QLF4 Turntable, and a pair of Epicure Tens. I bought it in 1978 or 1979. Sorry, no pics.

Standalone DAC vs. CD-Player with DAC

Sounds like M. Berger has a case of upgradeitis. I suggest sleeping on the purchase until the urge passes. I do not intend to ridicule. I sincerely suggest saving the cost. Or, at least somehow, barrow a DAC install it and see if a difference can be heard.

Best Circumaural (Over-Ear) Headphones for Classical

I'm not sure the OP needs to spend $300. I can speak as an owner that the Sennheiser HD 598 or HD 598 Special Edition have a nice open sound. They also cost about $160. If he's using a portable player the HD 598 may not be the way to go. On the mobile/portable side, the HiFiMan HE 400s might...

Best Circumaural (Over-Ear) Headphones for Classical

It would help to know if you're listening out of a mobile device, integrated amp, receiver, or headphone amp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Please help. I want to enjoy music again.

I see on the Best Buy site that the HD 558 do not require an amp. If those sound anywhere near as good as the HD 598 do, those would be well worth $80. I own a pair of the HD 598 and could not recommend them because of their need for an amp. I just could not think of an inexpensive, open...

Please help. I want to enjoy music again.

I'd like to offer some advice/guidance on headphones. Sounds to me like you are not in the market for anything that requires a headphone amp either portable or desktop. But, you want "really good". Here are three options, each under $200: 1) the Shure SE 215 in ear monitors 2) the...

Ascend, Philharmonic and Hsu are, I believe, U.S. speaker brands. It may be worth it at this point to decide if your speakers will be of U.S. or British design. I believe Cue Acoustics are a British company with well reviewed speakers that you may want to consider.

    That Sour and bitter drink

The situation is bad mates. I thought the Nespresso was the best I ever had. Anyone know of excellent coffee in Harrisburg, PA? Also, are you folks using coffee and espresso interchangeably?

Maybe the ELAC Element Integrated amplifier is worth consideration?

    First decent headphones

I'll suggest the NAD VISO HP-50. Just because it's in the $300 price range and supposedly has an "open" sound for a closed headphone. it gets good reviews.
