150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

Thanks, but I don't think I'm a F12 kinda guy. I was trying to come up w/sealed 12" for two bills. As mentioned w/apa 150 route I'm looking at assembly for 4 bills. I can throw one more on top of that and snag a SVS SB1000 along w/5 yr warranty. Even going w/truck box cabinet, 200 w amp plate...

150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

See my ETA above. Using the APA 150 w/150 RMS 12" woofer sounds like a good set-up to me as I'm not a HT guy. That would be plenty of power for my system and the ATA coupled w/sealed box should be musically pleasant.

150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

I did a search and found this explaining that sealed boxes usually come in best around 50. I suppose I need to snoop for a cabinet that comes close to 2.42 ft.³. The APA 150 appears to be quite a better set-up than the plates. I couldn't complain about a clean signal at the same RMS as the...

150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

Thanks, but the speaker is 4 ohms, so how does that work? I apologize for my ignorance. ETA: I see the same spkr comes in 4 or 8 ohms. Not much difference except I was working w/1.13 ft.³ size box. I've no idea what, Sealed F3 pertains unto. Besides that and the box for the 8 ohn having...

150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

"RMS Power per channel at 4 ohms 75 Watt" Is that correct? Am I able to use both the channels to come up w/150WRMS? "and bridgeable for 150watts" I suppose that's what bridgeable refers unto. I'm lost on most of the tech lingo.

150W RMS subwoofer needs a plate amp

Again, my modest 1650 H/K receiver is rated at 95W @ 2-channel and I'm powering two Klipsch F-10s/2-horns 2-6.5" midrange/bass combo two-way. Originally I was going to buy this/build that though I'm reevaluating my stance. Now I'm turning frugal. I don't want a HT rarely watch movies and when...

Harman Kardon 1650 How does adding sub effect OSD bass/treble adjustment?

Gotcha. My dilemma as such is that most of what I play wasn't recorded as a CD originally. Some remasters better than others and some are straight recordings off a LP/EP or 78. The quality varies. A bit as listening to classical music on FM I have to drop some bass and add treble. The sound...

Harman Kardon 1650 How does adding sub effect OSD bass/treble adjustment?

Just trying to familiar myself a mite before I snag a sub. I thought more/less treble wouldn't effect the sub and m/l bass wouldn't have an effect on the tweeter. Due to ignorance I figured bass & treble adjustments were separated by a middle of the road frequency around 2800 Hz. Yet, I...

Harman Kardon 1650 How does adding sub effect OSD bass/treble adjustment?

Thanks that makes sense. Right now I've used the OSD manual feet measurement for the stereo set-up then dialing in the bass/treble to what sounded best. Fairly simple for me w/two-way speakers and two controls. So, the OSD menu should have a sub screen allowing me to adjust the sub tone...

Harman Kardon 1650 How does adding sub effect OSD bass/treble adjustment?

It has a dedicated line for a sub, but I began wondering if the bass/treble adjustment -10/+10 would still apply to my two F-10 mains. Otherwise I'd be stuck w/treble adjustment on the main two-way speakers w/woofer not adjustable which doesn't make any sense. Thanks If I cross a sub at...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

"more efficiently used ... substantially lower their distortion" I like the way you said it correctly. Win/win. It makes sense that I'd only potentially notice a better sound from the little woofers at higher volumes. I wouldn't think the horns would be effected save indirectly by having a...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

I'm trying to grasp the concept and differing applications. I know that whopper would look menacing lurking just under the square table. As I understand, by taking the bass duties away from the two 6.5" woofers, w/powered sub, I'll have that much more available to push the midrange and the...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

I'd slap something on for a finish and it would rest on carpet under a table. I can see the reasoning for the BASH 500 over the 300. My thought was that my music is probably played at 35-75 w per channel, 1/3-2/3 of available power and I really shouldn't need that much power, e.g. 500W, for a...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

Thanks ShadyJ for the info. I've seen online suggestions that a speaker should be rated 1.4X the amp to 2x w/ohms being the same. I see talk about clipping that as I understand is a horn/tweeter issue. I also note the BASH 300 wrms amp. If it was at sale price then I would be looking right at...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

I see this kit mentioned in another thread. I note this speaker has a maximum rating of 900 wrms 4 ohms. Is there any reason that a lower rated amp from 250-500W couldn't be used if you planned on playing at lower volumes? I'm only pushing a maximim of 95w a channel on two speakers rated...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

Thanks. One of the hardest things in dealing w/matters that I'm unfamiliar with is separating what is essential and what is essentially hype. From the looks of the Al for an extra 50 clams I was listing towards the latter. I'm taking a big hit on the plastic this month, so I can't budge on...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

Thanks for the information on the PE kits. Inevitably I'm going to wonder how they compare to the 15" Rythmik kit sans cabinet. At that price point, $619/$52 shipped w/both the 12/15 using the same 370wrms amp, it wouldn't seem reasonable to choose the smaller if I went that route. Whilst...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

Geeze Louise 500 watts RMS is probably twice the power my system would want, but it should sound swell at lower power settings. Do you crimp terminals on a certain gauge wire to hook up the amp w/spkr? I'm not leery in the least of SVS. Sadly, I'm ignorant and inquisitive despite my online...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

I would hope the F-10s woofer response, to a sub taking 100hz crossover, could be described as lively. Wow, do I ever have egg on my face. I was snooping around for more info on the sealed sub and, in blind hog fashion, stumbled across this little acorn...

Sealed sub for music 5 bill limit

It's all good info guys and I appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge. In a weak moment I found myself eyeballing the discontinued Klipsch for three bills shipped. It's ported and more HT style, but I liked the price range for 300 watts of which I might use fifty. Still, I feel a good sealed...
