    Rythmik FV15HP Subwoofer Review

It looks like you're subtracting 6dB for doubling the distance and another 3dB for going from peak to RMS. Is 3dB the exact factor or an estimate?

The Decibel (dB) Scale & Audio Rules 101

That's only true if you have no floor. You're already at 1/2 space/2π steradians once you put it on the floor. From Audioholics' Bassaholic Subwoofer Room Size Rating Protocol article: This article calls floor/wall space both 1/2 space and 1/4 space in two different places. From the next paragraph:

The Decibel (dB) Scale & Audio Rules 101

Actually the TRW-17 Thigpen Rotary Woofer can reproduce those frequencies: I've heard a demo and it is impressive. However once you get down into the teens the effect isn't so much "sound" as separate pulses of pressure change.

PreSonus Eris E8 XT Active Studio Monitor Review

Genelec publishes a table showing the minimum distance for the sound from their multiple-driver speakers to sum correctly. The smaller conventional (3" and 4" woofer) and medium-size coaxial (non-round drivers) speakers sum down to 0.5m (1.6'). The largest (15" woofer) sum down to 1.5m (5')...

Kali Audio LP-8 Powered Monitor Loudspeaker Review

Thank you for reviewing "pro" powered speakers. It's great to see how they compare to passive home speakers in all the usual Audioholics tests. For a future review consider powered speakers further upmarket to see what more investment can do, something like the Kii Three.

Do You Miss Acoustic Suspension Speakers?

Is there a way to convert between FAR (measured in Hz) and Vas (measured in liters)? The DS1510 driver in my sealed Rythmik F15 subwoofer shows a VAS spec of 300L. It's not a good sign that the specs page shows ideal enclosure sizes for both sealed and vented enclosures. Wikipedia's...

Monoprice Monolith K-BᾹS Reference Series Bookshelf Speaker Preview

The product page touches on this lightly: A unique cabinet design and a variety of existing speaker port technologies (acoustic suspension, bass reflex, and transmission line) have been combined in a way that simply defies belief!

Literary Transgressions of the Audio Community

Nicely done, thank you for the grins! Asking for our favorites drove me to spend an hour searching for this article which has lots of great imagery!: Tubes give "more emotional impact and three-dimensional imagery..." "'you are there' transparency and dynamics" provided by Zu Unions. "more...

Re: Specs, "Frequency Response: 27 Hz–20 kHz [no +/- dB tolerance given on web page specs or in brochure, see attached pictures]" Audioholics, Please RTFM. The NHT Series Three and Four manual states the frequency response with tolerance on page 5: 27Hz - 20kHz +/- 3dB

Sealed vs Ported Loudspeakers: Which is Better?

My Rythmik F15 (sealed, servo-controlled) has a switch to select Q with options for "high (Q=0.5), med (Q=0.7), and low (Q=1.1)." I think I left it on high when I set it up but now I'll listen to some music at the different settings.

Orb Audio Mod1x, Mod2x, and SubONE Reviewed

2.5" or 3" full-range driver = compromise Even so Bose doesn't get a level frequency response. In a Intellexual.net review (now on the Internet Archive) the 2.5" Acoustimass 15 satellites measure out at 280 Hz to 13.3k Hz ±10.5 dB and the FR graph looks about as unappealing as the Orb.
