    Yamaha RX-Z7 A/V Receiver Overview

I'm curious to hear your results on this Gene. I have always hated they don't give you the option to do this on the mid-level units as well. They should definitely give you separate "Presence/Surround Back" preouts on a "Z" model though as well as giving you all the surround fields to take...

    Yamaha RX-Z7 A/V Receiver Overview

Being this unit is a "Z" series, where's the option to run surround back and presence channels simultaneously? For this reason alone, the Z7 does not belong in the "Z" category of receivers in my mind. Keep trying Yamaha!

Rush Adds Moving Pictures to Rock Band

I love Rush and this album...the thing I don't like is the fact that Tom Sawyer and Limelight are already available in the game and they expect people to double-dip. They need to come up with something to solve the issue of buying an album cheaper when you already have some songs that comprise...

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

I recently received the 7-speaker package from Emotiva and put my thoughts down on their forum here: http://emotivalounge.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=speakers&action=display&thread=1463

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

This is because they have redesigned the DSA-1 amp and given it more power and processing, but have not speced it out yet. The price will remain the same. I think they are probably a month or two away from firm specs yet.

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

I can't say enough good stuff about the DSA-1 package. After hearing a sealed sub, I will never be satisfied with a ported one. The sealed subs from Emotiva are just so controlled and sound so clean. Dan had a pretty big room (at least 2-3 times the volume of my room) and the sub system had no...

Sounds like maybe an Ascend review is in order!?:)

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

They are actually even cheaper than that with the 10% off on preorders and free shipping for a complete 5.1 or 7.1 channel set they announced on their Site today. The subs are amazing. I had a chance to check the dual sub setup out last week and was really impressed. My thoughts are in the...

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

I saw these speakers recently and thought they looked great. I have always hated the way the cherry Klipsch speakers reflect light in the front of my room and the Def Tech BP2X speakers I have on surround duties are white due to having them in our old house where I had restrictions implemented...

Emotiva ER 5.0 Speaker System Review

Try and remain patient on the subs. The dual sub system is definitely worth the wait. :)

    Would it be worth it?

I would suggest neither amp nor speakers, yet instead look into room treatment. Using acoustical panels to kill first order reflections can really clean up the soundstage. Without doing this first, you will never hear how any amp or speaker was intended to sound.

    RXV2700 Issues?

I used to get that error all the time with the 2500 due to having bipolar speakers for the suround/suround back speakers.

    Help Me set-up Bi-amp for Yammy RX-V659

See...I told you I hadn't woke up yet. Whatever happened to the good ole days when they put pre-out/main-ins on Yamaha mid level receivers?

    Help Me set-up Bi-amp for Yammy RX-V659

If the units has pre-outs/7.1 channel input couldn't he use the front channel preouts and connect them to the surround back inputs from the 7.1 input? I think he would still get sound from the front speaker terminals as well as from the surround back terminals. If so, he could power the woofers...

    Tech Question

That depends on several factors. Frist, what is the sensitivity rating of your speakers? I use Klipsch speakers which have a sensitivity rating of 95dB. This means if a microphone is placed one meter in front of the speaker it will produce 95 decibels of sound while drawing 1 watt of power...

    Tech Question

To calibrate the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) of your speakers measured in dB (Decibels), you would need to buy a SPL meter. They have them at RatShack for about $40. YPAO will do a decent job of setting all the speaker levels to the same volume, but without knowing how many decibels you are...

    Tech Question

Justin, I would recommend the Emotiva MPS-1 configured with 5 channels (it is on backorder right now) or the Outlaw 7200 amp but you would have an additional two channels of amplification not being used with your current 5.1 setup. If used is more along your lines, check out Audiogon...

    Tech Question

Justin, I would suggest adding a separate multi-channel power amplifier from a company such as Emotiva or Outlaw. These Internet companies produce some great amps at great prices (some of which are reviewed on this Site). If you want to get an amp and be done with things, I would suggest...
