    Adding a sub to a 2ch system

The Parasound is noise free. The only thing that's distorted is your perception of meaningful sound specifications. One thing for sure is what your friend sounds like, a not too smart audio enthusiast.

    Adding a sub to a 2ch system

Buy a 2.1 preamp, the Parasound Halo P6 is excellent. This permits control of a passive subwoofer amped by any notion deemed appropriate. The PC will connect to preamp via usb for Saber DAC pleasure.

Why would someone chose buying a record over the HD Audio counterpart?

Yeah, I get it. That’s to say I understand your passion for vinyl. I prefer it just because I think it sounds better than other media which has digitized the analog tape production. But thing is I am very sensitive to pops and ticks. They distract me from the pleasure of vinyl. So, I just don’t...

Why would someone chose buying a record over the HD Audio counterpart?

Ditto’s. I am done with new LPs because all and I do mean all I have purchased in the last 4 years have been defective, mostly pops and ticks which distract just too much to enjoy the music presented. It’s a conundrum for sure because I typically perceive vinyl to sound more life-like than other...

Dolby Atmos Best Practices for Proper Home Playback

My only interest in Dolby ATMOS is to enjoy Apple Music’s Spatial Audio, which might elevate my overall pleasure from recorded music as I have occasionally experienced from 5.1 SACDs and Blu-ray Music Discs. As I understand it I can get the Spatial Audio experience from an Apple TV connected to...

Apple TV to OPPO-205 for Dolby ATMOS entertainment?

It's about a means for me to enjoy Spatial Audio via my current system which is for the most part one I put together for 5.1 SACD and Blu-ray entertainment. I suppose I will eventually get a new Marantz Pre-Pro, some Atmos speakers, and another stereo power amp for the Spatial Audio experience...

Apple TV to OPPO-205 for Dolby ATMOS entertainment?

I thought the OPPO-205 processes Dolby ATMOS?

Can someone explain why people buy DAC's when they have a perfectly good receiver?

The question seems to be where's the best place to insert the DAC? I like it in a pre-pro or receiver for a multitude of reasons. In my three systems, I have a DAC which resides in a Parasound P6 preamp, another in a Marantz NR1200 receiver, and one, actually two, in an OPPO-205 doing duty as a...

    Apple Music Surprise

There was a workaround that Airplayed to DAT via an optical to 958 converter and then copied to another DAT Recorder via AES/EBU connection. Of course I am only speaking hypothetically.

    Apple Music Surprise

The burn to CD feature still exists but it will no longer burn music identified as an Apple Music purchase.

    Apple Music Surprise

My Apple Music experience rivals all other means I have to recorded music and Apple Music’s delivery of Dolby ATMOS is very promising. Mostly, I still prefer the sound signature of my pre-digital mixed and mastered vinyl to any digital with one exception, live music I have recorded to DAT and...

    Apple Music Surprise

Yes I am sure about it. CDs must be burnt from a playlist and ALL music on the list must either be owned or purchased music. What has changed now is Apple Music purchases can no longer be burnt to CD from playlist. Thus, to now make CDs from playlist I need to buy the music first on commercial...

SACD Player choice; Yamaha CD-S1000 or Denon DCD-1600NE

I enjoy stereo and 5.1 SACDs via my OPPO-205 yet I also have a Sony UBP-X800M2 which is connected to a Marantz NR1200 Receiver via HDMI. The Sony outputs DSD to the Marantz but the Marantz converts DSD to PCM before converting to analog. Still sounds on par to the OPPO’s DSD to analog conversion...

    disillusioned

Sometimes these days I cannot even remember the sequence of operations to be able to just listen to iTunes in stereo, much less Spatial Audio. At any rate seems your experience with recorded music is driving your preferences for how it’s delivered. Nothing wrong with that.

Is this Turntable Considered STATE OF THE ART?

It has been awhile since I measured cart resonance but even my AT MC Cart in AT Headshell at about 6.5 Hz is not at all problematic as might be expected. Fact remains my SAS-B loaded into Shure V15 Type III delivers most life-like presentation of recorded music I have known and thus I am done...

    Apple Music Surprise

I have a 2007 Cadillac SRX, which has a CD Player thus I still dnjoy burning to CD songs I have purchased from the iTunes Store. But now, purchased Apple Music can no longer be burnt to CD. This makes me realize I no longer have a reason to purchase Apple Music over buying a commercial CD...

Is this Turntable Considered STATE OF THE ART?

My experience with SAS-B on a Shure V15V-MR and V15 Type III suggests marginally better performance than from Shure Stylus I still run on a V15V-MR. The most life-like is SAS-B on my V15 Type III.

Is this Turntable Considered STATE OF THE ART?

Gee, forgot all about this thread. I did indeed buy a JICO SAS-B for my Shure V15 Type III and it outperforms my V15V-MR. In fact I prefer it to all other carts I own. The cart is now running on a Technics SL-1210GR feeding a Parasound P6’s phono preamp.

Is this Turntable Considered STATE OF THE ART?

That’s an adjustment for arm lift, which does not effect vertical tracking angle. Fact is the turntable’s non-adjustable design only accommodates 15mm height cartridges like the Shure V15V-MR. To accommodate an 18mm cart, like some from Ortofon, requires purchase of a tall headshell, like the...
