Need advice for home theater receiver

What sounds good I agree that all three are recievers you will be happy with though the Onkyo will not provide quit the rated power as compaired to the Denon and the Yamaha is not as good with speakers that tend to be a little bright or in a bright room, i.e: lots of hard surfaces like tile floors.

    Legacy LF Xtreme subwoofer

I am thinking about buying a Legacy LF Xtreme subwoofer. The cabinetry is incredible and with and active 15" driver connected to a 1000watt amp and a second passive 15" driver, well, the thing sounds great. Sounds? Oh yea, that's the problem, I can't actually hear it cause it's an online...

    Where to set crossover point

I have read, and it works for me, to turn the subs' crossover all the way up and let the reciever crossover do the work. The only reason to use the crossover in the sub is if the reciever doesen't have something close enough or your using speaker level for input and output at the sub. I believe...

    Teach me about Vinyl!

Vinyl I third JoeE SP9. Music Hall is a great place to start. I would also add Acoustic Sounds online store. They have a great selection of equipment and music in any form you like. I just read a review in Stereophile mag about the new $270. table from ProJect complete with cartridge. The...

    The sound of Amps.

I remember the first time I heard the "Bad Company" album. It was very late and we were all feeling very mello after a night of adventure. My friend had a very powerful quadraphonic reciever. Not really high end stuff but the old Klipsh sounded incredible late in...

Any thoughts on Yamaha YST-SW320 sub

The 320 is very musical but it ain't gonna rattle your windows. Just depends on what you want your sub to do. Very smooth with musical parts like base guitar and upright base but not very good for putting that really low stuff in many action movies.

    Selecting a new receiver

I would give careful consideration to the Denon 5803. Plenty of clean power for a room that size and all the latest goodies. Not bad to look at either...

    receiver's

When last I shopped for a new reciever, I read every review I could and all the tech specs I could lay my hands on for a couple of months. I learned that the Yamaha rxv-2400 and the Denon 5803 are incredible units. I firmly believe you will be happy with either one. I have...

    Totem Dreamcatcher 5.1

I would agree with Rip compleatly, for what it's worth. I would also advise you to pay some attention to speaker effencentcy. (90db eff or better)With a small amp, efficient speakers are very important to keep from haveing any clipping. This is even more important if you...

    The sound of Amps.

I went from a JVC RX1028V to separate with B&K Ref 50 and a Sherbourn 7/2100. For daily listening, my ears can hear little difference. When critical listening, some very quiet music turned up loud, like very well recorded acoustic guitar, reveals a slight hiss in the...
