    Funk audio at RMAF !

They look impressive in person. Even more than the SVS room though, the speakers are really too close and I could not really give them a good listen. I really wanted to hear the subs, but when I stopped by they were playing 2.0 and I was too rushed to hang out until they switched.

2013 Subwoofer Roundup: 6 Subs For $500 Or Less

I asked them that once and was told it was similar. I own the PB10 and a friend briefly brought over a PB1000. The new one is smaller and definitely lighter, FWIW. We never did head to head to compare. I would speculate the driver and enclosure were sturdier on the older but the new Sledge...

    BW Cm 10

Check out the Kef R700 or R900. Supercharged Songtowers or Veracity HT2 TL from Salk. And definitely look at the Philharmonic 3 if you have the space for a slightly larger speakers.

2013 Subwoofer Roundup: 6 Subs For $500 Or Less

I see it now under the drop down menu. But when you hit the picture of the sub and are actually on the product page, I still don't see it. At least I know how to find it in the future. Still, they should fix the product page too as Gene also had trouble finding it.

2013 Subwoofer Roundup: 6 Subs For $500 Or Less

Its odd because I know they replaced the FV12 but the new LV12R is not listed dander their products page. I can see it on the Ascend website though. I guess Rythmik needs to do a better job of website maintenance. I think it runs for $589 with free shipping. Still, thanks for the nice...

2013 Subwoofer Roundup: 6 Subs For $500 Or Less

I guess I will be the first to say it....too bad the Rythmik LV12 R was just a bit too pricey to be included in this group. I have a feeling most shoppers would consider it if they were look at around $500 and wanted a sub for a big room for HT use.

    new here, speaker question

The E55i sounded very good, especially for the price. I heard them briefly in my own house when a forum member brought them over. They were close to, but not quite equal to the $2,000/pair sets they were going against, but at less than half the cost. Others to consider in that price range are...

Best Bookshelf Speakers Under $2000? Again...

Do you have the ability to demo any of the store models you listed? It is best to try to listen as much as you can for yourself.

High end system to my living room, MOST HELP PLEASE!!!!!

I listened to the Kef R700s quite a bit in a store and I had a pair of Phil2s in my house for a demo for a month or so. The Kefs were one of my favorite non-Internet direct options. They both sound very good, but definitely different. The biggest difference is the open back design on the...

Need help choosing a pair of decent towers for less than $1400

I asked SVS about two Ultra towers vs. a setup with two Ultra bookshelves plus two SB1000 subs. To summarize, the sub/sat setup has more output 16-32 Hz(obviously) and allows you to better control bass levels by moving the subs and manually adjusting the gain. The towers have a better...

Need help choosing a pair of decent towers for less than $1400

Great post, lots to think about. Just to play devils advocate, if a tower is designed well, wouldn't the bass the be pretty tight and integrated well with the other drivers? Also, sometimes isn't it tough to get the sub and bookshelves to play well together? I just got SVS Ultra towers...

Tekton Enzo - The most inexpensive speakers that is in the league with high-end speaker

I remember reading some of the original threads about tekton and it seems like a perfect storm of three things happened at once that set people off. 1) Apparent design flaws (I cannot comment on the validity of the flaws, since I do not know jack about speaker design, I just remember some very...

    Cheap Stereo Receiver Question

Each brand of receiver has its fans and critics online. Yamaha is usually thought of pretty well. It gets dinged because it uses its own proprietary room correction program, YPAO, vs others that use Audyssey. But at that price range and you only having a 2ch setup, the V375 will probably...

    Cheap Stereo Receiver Question

I debated these very points when I set up my 2ch room, before I bought the HK3490. I ended up going with a better amp section and using my BD player to access the Internet etc. I do not have room correction or bass management(although I have no sub) though.

    Cheap Stereo Receiver Question

I have the HK3490. It goes on sale sometimes at $299. I ordered mine from J&R Music world. You could call them to see if they will give you that sale price. Powerful, got a great review on this site, plus has 2 digital inputs if you want to hook up a BD player or cable box and have a TV. I...

Advice needed for on-wall 5.1 system

Obviously, listening to each is the best option. Also, which you like the look of best and which seems like it has the best build quality. in general, try to get mains that play below 80hz so you can crossover to the sub at 80 Hz. Finally, the sub does not need to match the speakers at all...

Question about speaker specs: Easy vs. hard to drive speakers

I get about 100-104 dBs using that calculator. I appreciate the extra info. Nice to know that most of the time it is not necessary to worry too much if the amp is decent quality and the room is not too big. Thanks for all the help interpreting the measurements!
