PSB Owners Thread
Personally I can easily hear the 16kHz noise from a CRT.

PSB Owners Thread
Most of PSB's current speakers use the same tweeter and they all have that peak around 17kHz. It seems too low to be a titanium dome resonance. Perhaps some diffraction issue? I wonder if it is an audible flaw. It's a little unsettling to see that big peak on PSB speakers which otherwise tend to...

Small Footprint Stereo Setup?
I like the miniature stereo receivers from mini/executive/bookshelf stereo systems made by Yamaha, Denon and Onkyo. If you pair them with a good pair of bookshelf speakers and possibly a sub, you can build a stereo that's small and looks nice, and sounds vastly better than iPod docks and such...

500$ Bookshelves suggestions
I really like my Energy RC-10's. They're discontinued but apparently Onecall still has a few: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2GA3429830 $339, so it's under his budget. $160 could you get him a decent used subwoofer on Craigslist.

Extra, Extra, Read All About It... Greg Timbers no Longer Works for JBL
I heard that they fired all the consumer JBL/Infinity engineers and moved the engineering to China. Maybe they're doing the same with the pro and high end lines.

Home Test: Kef LS50 vs B&W CM
Measurements I've seen of other CM series B&Ws showed a big upper-mid dip. I'm sure that's the relaxed quality OP is hearing that he likes in the CM8 vs the more neutral LS50.

Are the new B&W 800 Series D3 Diamond Loudspeakers Their Best Effort Yet?
I don't like the looks. The front of cabinets look like they were assembled from sections of sewer pipe. The Nautilus and older Diamond series looked better.

Dipole vs Bipole vs Direct Radiator Surround Speakers: What do you prefer?
I just got a pair of Energy C-R3 surrounds. They have side-firing 2-inch midrange drivers that can be switched between bipole and dipole, adjusted in level and turned off for monopole operation. I haven't decided which I prefer. They both sound fine. I got them because I have to place my...

I need songs for testing subwoofers
I was going to mention Post by Bjork but someone already did. There are several songs with deep bass, especially Hyperballad and Possibly Maybe. There's a jazz album called "Superbass" that has 3 upright bassists playing together. That's a good test of bass clarity/articulation.

Sonus Faber Tower Speaker Comparison: Do they live up to the marketing?
Just about every company has some pseudo-technical BS they use to market to the rubes. I don't think Sonus Faber should be singled out for this. It doesn't mean they don't make good speakers.

JBL ES250PBK / BIC Options
Are guys sure the JBL isn't a good choice? It was reviewed here, and it has fairly flat response that stays strong until about 25 Hz. Not too shabby for $250. Are the Daytons going to match that? http://www.soundandvision.com/content/jbl-es20-speaker-system-ht-labs-measures

Rythmik or SVS?
Sorry, too slow. I got the Paradigm. (I found it myself earlier, wasn't tipped off by this thread.) Heavy sumbitch. Some cosmetic wear though, veneer starting to peel on one part.

Bookshelf speakers on a computer desk? Hmm.
The LSR305 are pretty damn big to put on a desk. 10 inches deep. Maybe look for a pair of very small bookshelf speakers, like the Energy Take Classic 5.1 satellites. They're good quality, very small so you should be able to find a good place to put them, but have no bass so they will require a...

Does Audio product placement exist?
On 30 Rock Tracy Jordan had Revel Salon 2's in his dressing room. I'm going to guess that the show didn't pay for those.

More budget tower or nicer bookshelf?
I don't think you need more than a few inches clearance for a rear-ported speaker. Certainly not more than a foot.

WTB/WTT PSB Imagine Tower Speaker X2T
This speaker just came out, so it will probably be hard to find a used pair. You might have better luck looking for the earlier version called the Image T6.

harman/kardon HK 3490 Stereo Receiver Review
I bought one of these based mostly on this review and liked it just fine. Then I bought another because I want to use biamping for my inefficient PSB Goldi's. (Both bought used.) After getting the second one home I noticed it has a faint hiss in the right channel. Shortly thereafter, the first...

NHT Classic Four Floorstanding Speaker System Review
Isn't this talk about the specs nitpicking? Most tower speakers at that price are skinny 2.5-ways that don't have bass as deep as these NHT's. (Who does better? Probably the SVS Ultra Tower.) He's comparing them to larger and more expensive speakers.

Harman Research vs Consumer Product Development Are They Related?
Infinity IL50 is $1700 according to audioreview.com, that's the closest Interlude to $1800. Right now there's a pair of IL40's selling pretty cheap locally that I want to try, but I have too many good speakers already so I shouldn't. Near the end of the video he mentions consistency. I've...

NHT Owner's Thread
I have a pair of Absolute Zero that I use as computer speakers. Actually I end up using them to listen to the radio more than my computer. They're powered with a Yamaha Pianocraft mini receiver. Unfortunately I haven' been able to find a decent subwoofer small enough to fit comfortably under my...
