Thinking about upgrading my sub.
Do you have any acoustic treatment in the room, specifically bass traps? In my experience, adding treatment to a room will give a bigger improvement than ugprading the sub (unless the sub is really poor).

Speaker placement/Acoustic panel setup help? (Awkard shaped room)
A rug might absorb some high frequencies (this isn't difficult) but the real question is how low a frequency it will absorb. Unless it is very thick it might go down a bit into the midrange but not much lower. My experience with bass traps is that exact placement in the corner isn't too...

Could you help with the ideal placement & type of speakers? Floor plan included.
The setup shown in that diagram isn't bad, though if it were my room I'd slide the screen and the front row of seats a bit to the left, to achieve better left/right symmetry. With good treatment you should be OK even if you can't do it. Make sure you treat the room for best results.... you have...

That's definitely a tough room. What's on the wall to the photographer's back in the 2nd photo? Based on what I see in the photos, the only options are where the existing occupants have the TV, or since you have tall ceilings mounted high up on the wall above the doorway. Perhaps there is...
