    WmAx (Chris Wolff) passed away

Wow, I just now saw this. Regardless of what happened with him, I genuinely liked him. He had a passion for audio and music, and I'm so sorry to his family and friends. He was way too young to go. R.I.P, WmAX!

    Maybe single :(

Good luck to you, buddy. A lot of the problems we have with people stem from each of us only seeing things from our own perspective. Sometimes it's difficult to get outside of our own perceptual boxes and try to see things from someone else's point of view. Sounds like you two have a lot of...

Sandy Got Me Good, and you?

Wow, I'm so sorry that you lost so much! At the very least you came out of it safe and sound. That's huge.

    Any knife nuts here?

Tell her she's lucky you bought that one! There's no picture yet but a couple weeks ago I bought this Nubatama! :o I got it new and since the sole importer is a buddy of mine I got a very good deal but still...yikes, very spendy. But I'm a pro cook so at least I'll give it a good workout...

    Any knife nuts here?

I'm a die hard knife nut, from Japanese kitchen knives to Busse & ESSE blades. All told I have a couple hundred, mostly good ones.

X-mas Sales on Quality Kitchen Cutlery?

I highly recommend ChefKnivesToGo.com. Their prices are very good, the service is unbeatable and no one has the selection they do. I'm a chef and a knife nut, and those guys get waaaay too much of my money!:D Occasionally I get a little of it back; I occasionally do some sharpening for them...

Why Is There No Looting In Japan?

They have a sense of unity that we don't have. We pride ourselves on our "melting pot", folding people of many races and creeds into our fold. The Japanese, by contrast, are a more homogeneous people. They share a culture and common experience going back nearly two millennia. There are few...

    Gary Moore RIP

I was really shocked to hear of his passing. He way way too young at 58. It's sad to think of all the music he still had locked up inside him waiting to be written. I would have to rate his album, Run For Cover, as one of my top 50 all time rock albums. R.I.P., Gary. You will be greatly...

fixing all of my computers problems

My SSD uses the Sandforce controller. I deleted my swap file as that seemed to be the standard setup for running the Mushkin SSD. I'm getting a 7.3 WEI so it's working pretty well. I just wanted to verify vs other setups.

fixing all of my computers problems

I've been really happy with the 60 GB SSD Mushkin drive. Much faster. To you guys running SSDs, did you delete the swap file? I agree that Microsoft Security Essentials is at least as good as AVG, especially if you're running Windows 7.

    2010-11 NFL Football Season

I'd like to see the Vikes go after Kevin Kolb. It looks like Vick is gonna be the man in Philly, making Kolbs big contract dead weight. But he's a very talented QB, probably a future Pro Bowler. He'd be a great fit for the Vikings.

    AIDS Cured by Transplant

It would be amazing if this turned into a true cure for the disease. I wonder if the gene therapy is super expensive? Most of the people on this planet dying of AIDS are very, very poor.

    Need advice Audio Centric system

Welcome to AH! If you're primarily interested in music and only require 2 channel (or 2.1 with a sub) then you can really get a nice system for $2,500. The hardest part to recommend will be speakers, and not because of any lack of them. Speakers are like shoes or food- what's "best" will be...

Adding a tube amp to my modest system?

I'd be more inclined to pick up a Jolida integrated or something off of Agon. If you can pick up an Onix Melody tubed integrated for $500 used that would be tough to beat.

    eD a7s-650 room response

That's a lot of sub! And the Feedback Destroyer is a very powerful unit when used as a parametric EQ. I used one for years to good effect.
