Problem with Epson projector and keystones

It is not as good as you think it is, and your performance IS downgraded with that cable, and the keystone just shuts it down. You need a hybrid cable, where the video is sent over an optical cable and the audio over copper. That 15' cable is way too long for 4K video unless an active hybrid...

Problem with Epson projector and keystones

I think part of your trouble is that you are using the wrong HDMI cable. If you cable is longer than 10' then you need a powered active cable. The optical hybrid cables are best. I use Ruipro who make the gold standard hybrid optical HDMI cables. Make sure you use a voltage inserter to power...

Problem with Epson projector and keystones

It seems you have lots of company. It seems many can not get an HDMI signal to pass through those Keystone connectors. Just dump them.

Need warm speakers for home theatre

It sounds to me as if you have hyperacusis. This is a symptom that should always have careful audiological evaluation. It has a wide range of causes, from aging, blast injuries and prolonged noise exposure. However it is always present in otosclerosis and this is a cause you don't want to...

    YAMAHA RX-V596 SPEAKER TROUBLE

I have been busy today. I am home now and have downloaded the 67 page user manual. That is a unit from the VCR era. It does have an optical and RCA digital in. So you could get audio from your TV to it, by connecting to the optical out of your TV. Set up is required to enable inputs...

    YAMAHA RX-V596 SPEAKER TROUBLE

That is a very early analog AV receiver. It is no use for video, as we are long passed the analog sunset. It could be used for audio only, but I suspect the right and left amps are blown. Download the instruction manual and see if inputs and outputs have to be assigned. It will be tricky as...

    YAMAHA RX-V596 SPEAKER TROUBLE

If you connected one speaker to the left and right outputs at the same time, then you have ruined that receiver instantly. If you did it one at a time, then maybe we can help you sort it out.

    I bought a motorcycle yesterday

Yes, I can weld, and have a welder. I only weld steel and not aluminum, which is a real art. You pretty much get out of practice with that if you don't do it every day.

    Bridge Collapse in Baltimore

Swerd there are just so many things wrong here. First the bridge should never have been designed like that to allow for that type of catastrophic failure. The bridge was built in 1977, and that design would not be allowed now. So that bridge should have already been replaced on that account...

This dude makes good points in totally trashing Dolby Atmos...

My four ceiling speakers are in .25 cu.ft. boxes, below 14" of blown insulation. Those are the calculated optimal sealed boxes for the speakers. Speaker wire is in steel conduit back to the equipment chase. Terminal blocks for 2 rear Atmos ceiling speakers, surrounds and bi-amped rear backs...

I guess if you are satisfied with a relatively crude installation. I think my wife would nix box speakers on the ceiling in any room. That would be a bridge too far.

Audioholics Celebrates 25 Years of Online Success!

Congratulations Gene. It has been my pleasure to be a member of this forum. We have all helped in our own small way to keep this forum a place of sanity and reliable information. I do think this forum has been a genuine help, and assisted many over these years. Long may it continue!

    Ohm Acoustics Model H

Obviously you have never rebuilt a speaker drive unit. If you had, you would not have made that outrageous comment about the $225 price tag. What is the matter with the drivers anyway? If the parts are available form a supplier, like Simply Speakers, you can refoam, or recone it yourself as...

This dude makes good points in totally trashing Dolby Atmos...

I am not a big movie watcher. I do have a number of movies on BD Atmos discs though. What I find is that the producers are scared to put any real power on the overhead speakers and especially the surrounds and backs. The only movie I have that really puts power all round. I think they are...

My experience is the same as Gene's. Auro D is basically multichannel stereo. Both he and I can cut out amps without unplugging anything, so we can tell what these upmixer really do. The Dolby DD up mixer is the only one that actually does what it says on the tin.

As far as I can tell, you can still obtain parts.

I think it all depends on how you define success and failure. Sure there are stacks, wall to wall of Atmos sound bars in every Target store. Bouncy speakers abound. That is not success, but deception. The fact is that to realize the results the technology promises, then you have to...
