Key Digital Phantom Series Distribution Amplifiers Preview

HDMI Switching via A/V Receiver My Denon 3806 Receiver did have this problem and I had to use an external HDMI switcher, but now that I have upgraded to an Onkyo 5007 (last year's model) I have had no problems switching between 4 HDMI sources into the receiver. The sources are HD-DVD player...

    The Audio Breakup

What happened to the WAF? We'll have to create a new acronymn, say the "WDF" = Wife Demand Factor, since it now appears that women are no longer behind men in the world of audio fidelity. Did I just say fidelity? Uh oh.

Mid Ship Mount for Woofer in Bookshelf Speakers

Does anybody know of other bookshelf speakers having Mid-Ship mounted woofers? I still have the Pioneer S-701 set I bought in 1988 and it's still going strong. Love the beryllium ribbon tweeters too! http://audio-database.com/PIONEER-EXCLUSIVE/speaker/s-701-e.html

    3D ?'s and a few more

3D or not 3D? That is the question! When CDs became available, I switched to digital from analog, when HDTV became available I started with HD-DVD and then moved to Blu-Ray. When 1080p HDTVs came out I moved to 1080p from 780p/1080i. I am definitely not a Luddite and usually consider myself an...

Global 3D TV Shipments to Hit 4.2 million in 2010

2015 Sounds about right I will probably be among the 78 million getting a 3D TV in 2015, if only because by that time probably every set will be 3D and the prices should have fallen quite a bit and the market will have sorted out which 3D technology is really the most cost effective. This year...

    Pioneer VSX-1120-K Receiver First Look

Separates vs Receiver Well, now I am considering using the 1120 as a Pre/Pro in combination with the Emotiva XPA-7, thus giving me future 3D connectivity with ample power, and all for the cost of a good mid-level receiver. Any thoughts on the matter?

    Pioneer VSX-1120-K Receiver First Look

You are right, it is rather a THX Select2 Certified product which is for "medium sized rooms, up to 2,000 cubic feet in size, with a 10-12 foot viewing distance from the screen."

    Pioneer VSX-1120-K Receiver First Look

More about 4-ohm speakers + A/V Receiver I have been using my Denon 3806 Receiver for five years now with my Axiom M80s, V150 center, and QS8 surrounds with NO problems in my current space. Both this receiver and the Pioneer 1120 are rated at 120W/7 channels and both have THX Ultra...

    Pioneer VSX-1120-K Receiver First Look

Pre-outs good, speculation bad Thanks for the info about the pre-outs. Other than guessing though, I would like to know whether the receiver itself is capable of handling 4-ohm speakers in a 2500 cubic foot home theater.

    Pioneer VSX-1120-K Receiver First Look

Sounds like a great deal...what about 4 ohm speakers? This looks like an amazing buy vs $1500-2500 receivers I had been considering. I only have one question/consideration: will it handle a 4-ohm 7.1system?

UPDATED: Mark L. Schifter, PLEADS GUILTY to suspicion of charity fraud

Charities and Retail Sales First, I believe there is NO place for combining charity-giving with retail sales operations. Sell your products based on value and service - period. Even legitimate charities mostly have horrible expense ratios. Here is a link to many top-rated charities in terms of...

Vizio Brand Redux, Featuring Beyonce and The Internet

Hulu - Its Own Worst Enemy

On ratios OK...if you mean the ratio of commercials/broadcasts it's 1:3, if you mean the ratio of commercials/total time, it's 1:4 capiche? Perhaps this next example will clarify a bit further: if the ratio of men to women in some group is 1:1, then 50% are men and 50% are women. The fraction...

Hulu - Its Own Worst Enemy

Advertising to Content Ratio on TV I believe the actual ratio is 1:3 In other words 25% of an hour show is advertising. This is why, when you watch an hour show on DVR and fast forward through the commercials (in 30 sec intervals via my remote!) the total time is just over 45 minutes.
