    Gray projector screen?

Grey screens are generally for rooms that suffer from higher ambient light levels ie. sports bars. Ever see how lousy a football game looks in sports bar using a white screen? Absolutely silly! Hope the Da-Lite works out well. If you end up unsatisfied, Stewart makes the best screens without...

What Size Screen or Television Do I Need?

I wouldn't say it was "silly" to have 1080p capable equip. The cable companies broadcast HD in 1080i not 1080p (google the difference, takes too long to scribble down here...besides, it's been explained to death!) Bluray is the only source material where you'll get 1080p. Is it worth it...

    Problems with Pioneer Elite Pro-110FD

Plus, if it's an Elite, Pioneer pretty much promises a week turnaround. remarkable for a TV...most other brands outsource their service to "autorized dealers" and you're lucky to have it back in MONTHS nevermind a week. Elite service, in Canada anyway, is done AT Pioneer, BY...

    Price for Panasonic BD 50

This may be the dumbest question ever asked, but its it possible to download media or a video file onto a Blu-ray permanently...so it's plays everytime preceeding a disc? I have a friend with a new Pioneer player...wants to get one of those personalized DVDs that puts "your name in lights"...

    Samsung help...

Hey folks...I have a Samsung model LN-T1953H in my kitchen. After setting it up, I noticed that everytime I turn the TV on, it defaults to the "Dynamic" setting. The "Standard" setting is the one I chose & adjusted when I first hooked it up. Secondly, after I'm watching anything for a while, I...

    Bitstream Boom

Not owning a Blu-ray player yet, I haven't heard the aforementioned DTS "Boom". Does anybody have or know of a link to perhaps a Youtube page where one can sorta hear it? Obviously you wouldn't get the full effect...but I'm very curious to hear it. Excuse this thread if a link has already...

Plasma vs. LCD - which is better

I find it amusing that the same pro/con argument keeps popping up about the two technologies...that argument is the weight/power consumption point. Firstly, the plasma cells are only using energy when "lit" which is about 50% of the screen, on average, at any given time. So, the power...

Plasma vs. LCD - which is better

If you like the look of CRT televisions (like we've all be staring at for 50 years) then plasma will make you happier. LCD is more useful in bright room situations as mentioned. Sony is a good place to go if you decide on LCD...for plaz, Pioneer is leagues ahead (if you can drop that kinda coin)...

    New Pioneer plaz...

From what I could gather yesterday talking to my contact... The new (and final completely Pioneer made) panels will be coming in about 90days. There is no longer any 768p displays, they're all 1080p. It looks like there will be no more 42" panels available...just 50" and up...meaning 60" I'd...

    Help with new TV purchase

Which reminds me...I'm heading over to the shop I do some part-time work at tomorrow. The boss had a meeting with the brass at Pioneer last Thursday....hope he has some info about the new panels (and the PRO-110 for that matter) Pioneer's fiscal ends March 30th...in Canada atleast...I'm sensing...

    Help with new TV purchase

Not sure about the DLP's...but you can smoke the Toshiba right off that there list feller!! If you can stretch it, go for the Pioneer. Truly a beautiful panel, and you WILL notice a diff between it and the Panny (which is great value as you mentioned) Also, look at other features each set...

Pioneer PDP-5010FD, Sorry I just don't get it...

It's like anything else...once you get used to a properly calibrated TV, you'll learn to despise the ones that are running right out of the box. The initial thoughts of a calibrated set are usually, too dull, not bright enough, too little colour, not enough sharpness etc. It's like listening...

LCD Leading Way in Rapidly Growing HDTV Market

Bothered! LCD leading the sales race over plasma isn't earth shattering news. I'm waiting to get some more details about the final Elite panel this summer, then I'm buying...either the current PRO-110, or the yet-to-be released plasma from Pioneer. Gotta figure it's lifespan will be long enough...

    Polk Audio or Boston Acoustics

Speakers more than anything else in CE are personal taste. You need to audition each pair with music of your choosing plain & simple. I've owned lots of BA speakers since '87 (A40, A60, A150, A400, VR 975) obviously I like the Boston sound, Some don't. BTW, I'm selling both my VR975's and...
