    DACs - Should I care?

Yes. I've used Foobar. And my participation changes nothing about its merits.

    DACs - Should I care?

There is. It's called bias-controlled listening tests. Accept it.

    DACs - Should I care?

I too, am expressing an experienced opinion, and what you assert is unprovable. So why bother saying it, if not to cast doubt on ABX testing? Einstein held the opinion that the universe was static until Hubble proved him completely wrong. Shall we toss out the theory of relativity based on his...

    DACs - Should I care?

"Seem unlikely to prove there aren't." This is known as "trying to prove a negative", and nothing more than FUD by ABX critics who have repeatedly failed to discredit ABX testing. I've never read Aczel's comments about the Orion, nor do I care to. I point out the ad hominems because they...

    what would you do?

I would never consider multi zone receivers for an installation this size. There's too many zones to deal with here. If the wall board hasn't gone up, it's a snap to run speaker cable and cat cable for the controllers. When I speak of wired systems, I'm referring to HTD, Russound, Niles...

    what would you do?

Wireless streaming is good when it works, but a real headache when it doesn't. Dlna is clunky. AirPlay can be flaky. A project of this scope deserves a well designed wired system with wireless as an add on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DACs - Should I care?

You contend that audio memory "sucks" yet you still rely on that same poor memory to claim there are sonic differences. Second, "might" isn't "is". Third, ad hominems make for a poor argument. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-ray is here!

It's disappointing to see the industry move towards 4k when we are still languishing with 10 bit color space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Balanced Cable Advice Needed

Balanced lines are great for noise rejection, but that assumes you have a noise (emi) problem in the first place. Balanced cables won't make an already noise free signal better. If you can't hear any noise, save your money and stick with the single 1/8 cable. You're not missing anything...

    DACs - Should I care?

DACs are a commodity item. The only audibly noticeable DAC is a defective one. There's lots of things to compare between the Yamaha and Pioneer AVRs, but DACs isn't one of them.

    Why would anyone do that?

I agree the antivax stance spans the political spectrum. The common denominator appears to be distrust. At one end, it's big pharma, and at the other it's big govt. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Why would anyone do that?

Tillis looks even more foolish in that his stance begs the question: once the burdensome regulation to compel businesses to ensure their employees wash their hands is removed, how does one compel the same businesses put up a sign saying their employees may not have washed their hands? Sent...

Starting from scratch….New system help needed.

Amplification won't be the issue. Not too many 5.1 AVRs are geared towards 9.1 signal processing and that's where the hassle will lie. I think the factor for you will be HOW much later you plan to upgrade. Signal processing features seem to change yearly, and if you hold off for a few years...

HD Tracks and High Resolution Audio Make your Hifi System Shine

The best test would be to listen to both masters with the same bit rate/frequency, otherwise, it's impossible to conclude that the difference has anything to do with hi Rez. It's also important to add that these comparisons must be bias controlled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HD Tracks and High Resolution Audio Make your Hifi System Shine

All of what the editorial mentions (binaural, etc) can be offered at Redbook quality resolution and bit rate. So I will ask the same question: why not? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Check for "hdmi control". You may have enabled it by mistake on the AVR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    SACD cable options

Room EQ Wizard(REW) is a common measurement software. There's threads on it here, and an extensive one on avs forum. I've also seen discussions on tweaks when using Audyssey discussed here and AVS. You will also need a calibrated USB mic and a laptop. Parts express.com is one site you can...

    SACD cable options

Your music will sound no different played from a hard drive or CD player. Changing cables or DAC's won't net you any audible gains unless one of those items was defective in the first place. How's your room treatment? Have you measured to see how your speakers are performing in your room...

Top 10 Most Influential Speakers of the last 50 years!

I remember when the Bose Acoustimass system first came out. The dealer set up stands and draped a facade that made the speakers look like 5ft towers, which they could easily pull away to reveal the tiny satellites. Many people were surprised by the illusion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
