Perlisten r7t vs paradigm persona 7 or 9

I had some S7ts in house and I used a Parasound JC 5 which was a killer combination. Perlisten speakers don't have weird impedance loads so any good amp will do. Parasound, Yamaha, Denon, ATI, etc.

    HECO Aurora 30A Subwoofer Review

HECO’s Aurora series has put out some outstanding performance at affordable prices, at least for the two loudspeakers that we have reviewed so far (Aurora 300 review and Aurora 1000 review). In those reviews, the Aurora speakers went straight to the top of our recommended speakers given the...

Perlisten r7t vs paradigm persona 7 or 9

I have heard a bunch of speakers from both manufacturers, and my preference would be Perlisten by far, although the Personas are pretty darn good.

Is there an easy proportional way to defend high-cost sub purchases?

I think that one part of the answer to this question is how do the subs behave when driven hard. For most subs, when the coil isn't pushed too far from center in the magnetic gap, and there isn't any other aspects causing nonlinear performance such as induction-induced distortion or maybe time...

Is there an easy proportional way to defend high-cost sub purchases?

This is an interesting subject and certainly merits a good response. I am a bit busy at the moment but will try to add something useful tomorrow. I think there is something to be said both for raw numbers as well as a more nuanced look at the data.

    Looking for Sub $800-$1000 range.

Hsu Research VTF-2 mk5, definitely as good as any sub at that pricing. SVS PB-1000 Pro is a terrific sub for around that same price. If you can go just a bit over your budget, the Hsu VTF-3 mk5 will blow away any sub-$1k subwoofer. The Monoprice M-12 is also a great sub for 1,100.

Nope, but Mr. Larson does have other RBH reviews with measurements coming down the pipeline - stay tuned!

    Sound United has been sold....

Active speakers have their own problems. Each one requires its own power, so now you are talking about power cables in addition to signal cables (unless they are to be wireless, which has its own problems). It also makes the speakers more complex; more parts means more opportunities for failure...

Anyone know the status of Patrick Hart (user name plhart)?

Very cool! I still have those monitors, but they are stored away, and I haven't listened to them in a while. I consider them the first really good speakers that I owned.

Anyone know the status of Patrick Hart (user name plhart)?

Were you involved in the Alesis Point Seven Reference Monitors? If so, I have you to thank for my descent into this madness!

HECO Aurora 1000s nearly half off.

Crazy good deal on the 1000s. If you are looking for some affordable tower speakers, nothing really challenges these. Review. I think that Audio Advice is clearing out all of the HECO stuff. That is a shame, because it is so good for the money. It also takes HECO out of the North American...

Seeking Advice for Home Gym Audio Setup

The acoustics in a gym space are usually not great, so I wouldn't spend a lot getting some really fancy speakers. Many of the good speakers with built-in amplification and wireless connectivity tend to be somewhat pricey, like from Klipsch, SVS, and Dali. Maybe get something like the Arylic...

    Home Theater Hobby Dying?

I will say that I think kids today are less interested in movies than in years past. They seem to be more into either short-form entertainment or video games. I will also say that there was certainly a spurt of extra home theater interest when Covid hit, but that died down. I wonder how many...

    Subwoofer(s) on the cheap.

Any drivers suitable for small sealed designs should work for your purposes.

    Subwoofer(s) on the cheap.

You will never beat the value of DIY for subs, if you are able to properly construct them. If you want a lot of bang for your buck, look at the kits from GSG Audio Design.

Erin's Audio review squashed by Tekton

I want to see the differences with and without feet. I can't believe it would be very significant depending on the screw hole size. Most of these screw holes for feet are around 1/8" wide; how much would four such holes affect the response in a ported loudspeaker? I am guessing not much. I would...

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

Make sure that 'Low Pass' on the sub is set to LPF. Make sure that there is no bass management engaged on the Marantz when you run those sweeps, or set the low-pass filter as high as it will go. I would bypass the Marantz altogether when taking a sweep if possible.

Definitive Technology Descend DN15 15" Subwoofer Review

I haven't seen that, but I didn't have the LCD display facing me when I was using the sub, sorry. I wouldn't guess that the DN12 is a bad sub, probably a few dB down from the DN15.

Netflix “3 Body Problem” - from GOT creators.

If the series stays close to the books, this will be a really cool show. So far it's kind of close to the books, at least in the ways that matter. Definitely hang in there and watch this show.
