    speaker life

I am finding my sepakers last at least 20 years. I am on my second pair of speakers and I am finding they are lasting at least 20 years. The first ones were EP100s and the others are Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble (20 years old).

    What earbuds should I buy?

You might want to look into AGK 350 Quincy Jones headphones. They barely stick into the ear canal (maybe 1/8") but they seal well and produce excellent bass and the rest of the mids and highs as well. They cost about $100 but I bought mine B-Stock for about $44 shipped. I also have Monster...

    Boqari - Handling a scam.

As knowledgeable Audioholics, what would you do if you and a lot of other unknowing consumers were suckered into a scam where you could buy a pair of $299 list-priced sound-quality headphones for $29 on an Amazon "lightening deal" (decision within 20 minutes for me), only to find out they were...

    Resident Evil: Afterlife (new thread)

The 3D Blu Ray disk is well done as far a 3D effects go. It seemed like quite a few concepts were taken from the Matrix series, as opposed to being original.

    Despicable Me BD

The 3D version of Despicable Me is also a very good demo disc for 3D. It is the best of the three 3D movies I have bought so far.

Watched my first 3-D demo yesterday...and it blows

I felt dizzy and nauseous after watching Avitar in 3d at the movie theater. I also felt eye fatigue. I don't know if this is because of the particular technology used for the movie and glasses. I don't think they were active shutter glasses because I did not see the battery location. Any...

    LG brand reliability sucks

I guess you would have to look at Consumers Report or maybe JD Powers as they have larger sample sizes. Caveot Emptor.

    LG brand reliability sucks

My 1 1/2 year old LG 20" monitor died and is out of warranty. I am just glad it wasn't a 50" plasma or LED where more money is involved. Went back to my old CRT which lasts 20 or 30 years without failure.

moving in with girlfriend, but still want good sound - thoughts?

I would just go with headphones, or you may find yourself listening to her music or no music at all on that shiney new system. Also be prepared to turn the subwoofer off if she doesn't like that "boomy" loud noise. Invest in a good car stereo so you get some use out of it and get to listen to...

    Buying old speakers

Seems to me a quality brand speaker will last about 20 years if not abused. My EPI 100s lasted about 20 years before the surrounds rotted out. My Cambridge Soundworks Ensamble speakers are over 20 years old and still sound fine. You can also get the surrounds repaired if you want to keep the...

Importance of CD player in system

When I bought one of the first CD players (1983 I think), I bought a portable-sized non-portable CD player and it had a S/N ratio of about 90dB (which was fine for me). The better full-sized CD players at that time had S/N ratios of about 110 dB if I remember correctly. I don’t know if you...

Enter to Win: Orb Audio Mod1 QuickPack valued at $299!!!

    1) Do you like this finish? I really like the hammered-earth finish Mod 1 speakers (and stands). I think they would blend into most decors (WAF). 2) What other finishes would you like to see in a speaker like this? I think the hammered-finish would look good in black, copper, and...

1.I have five TVs in my house. 2.Two TVs have external speaker systems. 3.I might add another external speaker system this year if a great deal comes along. 4.I would add a stereo system for a bedroom TV or maybe a 5.1 system like the next question. 5.My budget is around $400. That...

    Too Loud Commercials

Thanks for all the information. We currently watch the TV without the HT on most of the time, because we need to keep the volume down while the kids are studying. Thats why the loud commercials are such a hassle - we have to adjust the volume to the loudest commercials, then you can barely...

    Dish vs Directv

I have had Dish network since the 1990's and I have allways had a high quality picture and sound. I have a basic package with Comedy Central, the History Channel etc. and a high definition package with about a dozen channels. I have one high definition receiver and one standard definition...

It has probably been asked and answered before, but does anyone have a solution for automatic volume leveling or muting overly loud TV commercials?

    Repairing Discs

I fixed a lot of discs with a disc hand cleaning machine using the supplied fluid. I got it at BB a few years ago but I have not seen them lately. I think the brand was Disc Doctor. I would spend more to get a motorized disc cleaner because the hand cranking gets real old real fast.'' I...

If you've ordered from Monoprice.com recently check your credit card activity...

Is it possible that the thieves just snagged credit card numbers going into Monoprice.com without getting into their computer? If so they need to look into that.
