Engineer from AudioQuest cables on differences in speaker cable construction

Hi guys, It's been a while. I've been on hiatus for the better part of the past decade. Now I'm off work due to COVID19, so have some time to put my system together. Pretty much all of my cables are DIY. So while researching current connectors and tech, I came across this with one of their...

Hats off to SVS customer service

They have always been very good to me. Glad it worked out for you when things went bad with the sub.

My SVS Ultra is down, again.

I hope it all works out for you.

    Review: SVS PB10-NSD Subwoofer

Bill, sorry for the late reply. Haven't seen the thread in a while. Yes the RC30s are ported with the foam. I really need to treat the room but it's so expensive. I'm a single guy and the money has to be wisely spent/saved.

UPDATED: Mark L. Schifter, PLEADS GUILTY to suspicion of charity fraud

Defrauding hundreds of people and capitalizing on their generosities. How an individual can use the name of a cancer or children's hospital and defraud them is beyond me. It's not as if he's made a mistake. This has been ongoing for 6 years now. I hope the bastard gets what's coming to...

    It's clean in here.

Bogner is amazing and high end equipment. Bugera are cheap stuff that usually isn't very good. Cabinets I can't say much about, but as a package, the head and cab I played through was terrible.

    Energy Speakers RC-10, RC-LCR

RC10 and RC LCR are pretty tough to beat. You'd have to go to the Paradigm Studio series to match that.

    Tiesto:Kaleidoscope

I'm not a fan of kaleidoscope. It has a few good tracks but I prefer the sunrise series better.

Just scored a Parasound HCA 1000a

    New HT Room

If you let me borrow your house for a week to watch movies in, my 22 year old fiancee will do naughty things for you.

Suggest an alternative to a PB10-NSD

To be blatant honest, after you do all the math and costs, you'll choose the PB12 - guaranteed. There's no other option in Canada in the price/performance and what you need/looking for.

Velodyne DLS-4000R OR SVS PB10 NSD

I would go with the PB12 here. Yes, it's more expensive but you'll be happier.

Bi-Amping + Bi-Wiring. Noticable difference in midrange and Bass.

I plan on getting an amplifier. My room is small, so I listen at moderate volume levels. I don't think I've even taken my receiver below -18dbl on the volume scale. I generally watch movies at -25dbl and music at -22dbl.

Bi-Amping + Bi-Wiring. Noticable difference in midrange and Bass.

My previous setup... Current setup. I'm using a 10 foot Canare 4S11 cable. Love this cable. Right now I have bare wires. Need to get some bananas and this time will look better than the one I made (top pic) before. Already have heat shrink from my older build. I've noticed 2...

    Review: SVS PB10-NSD Subwoofer

Moved my Sub to the front of the room. The bass is more balanced. My room is absolute garbage in terms of acoustics but the sub sounds great at this location.

Monoprice 14AWG Bi Amp/Wire for longer runs.

So, are there any cheaper wires out there than the 4s11 with similar properties?

    Review: SVS PB10-NSD Subwoofer

Total waste of money for me. If I showed pics of the ceiling and the walls, most people here would faint. I'm going to replace my receiver with a Denon with Audessey and see how that fares. The problem is, the room is too small and oddly shaped to waste any money on treatments. There's a...

Monoprice 14AWG Bi Amp/Wire for longer runs.

Well, I fully understand that from a wire standpoint, it is fine. However, I have to do many bends to get around doors, and furniture. And it's not going through a wall. I was hoping someone who owns it can give some feedback. The 4s11 is very soft and malleable around corners.

Monoprice 14AWG Bi Amp/Wire for longer runs.

Guys, I am likely going to be moving my HT soon. Right now, I'm running Canare 4S11, which are amazing wires and look nice. However, I now need to go from 5feet to 30 feet for the front soundstage as the AV rack will be in the back of the room. It looks like I will need a 100 foot spool...
