    Triad Owners Thread

My guess would be that only Erin can answer that question.

Unfortunately there aren’t any such measurements available to the public. Yet. I believe Erin is being sent a Gold LCR ?I think?to measure and review.

Rear surround speakers sound coming from front

Glad you are enjoying your setup. What I learned is that reflections are real, and distracting, and that a couple hundred bucks spent on real acoustic panels (not foam egg crate stuff, not drapes, but 2" to 4" thick fiberglass or rockwool panels) can make a world of difference. On top of...

Rear surround speakers sound coming from front

Sort of in the sense that it was the rear speakers bouncing sound off the front wall In my case. So my first solution was to turn off the rear speaker. Then I tried them with a different angle. And finally treating the front wall more thoroughly.

    Next upgrade advice...

You ate asking other people to choose what pizza you will eat. I would definitely choose the Revel. Just like I would choose the mushroom pizza. But you may like pepperoni!

Not to derail the topic even further but what is HQ YouTube?

In wall speaker advice for Newbie

I don’t know your budget but I’d be looking at Revel, KEF, Triad, Focal for quality neutral in wall speakers. B&W and Goldenear each have a particular flavor for their sound. Some people like it a lot and if you do after listening to them, they are good choices, too. It’s hard to hypothesize...

Can Audiophiles Embrace Science Over Religion For The Hobby To Have a Future?

Exactly. Beats shows how a new market can be made that doesn’t steal customers but expands the number of customers. And ironically Apples headphones like the air max pro are now largely following the Harman Curve based on what Sean Olive measured. Its still possible to get a better sounding...

Can Audiophiles Embrace Science Over Religion For The Hobby To Have a Future?

I’m saying we shouldn’t proclaim the death of quality audio just because people in their twenties don’t buy the products people in the fifties think they should buy. I think twenty year olds today have access to better data than I did 30+ years ago and those that love music will sometimes be...

Can Audiophiles Embrace Science Over Religion For The Hobby To Have a Future?

Luckily Toole and a few dozen other researchers did well controlled scientific tests of subjective preferences where they tested all the variables in play by using complete systems and by starting with listening tests in multiple rooms with all kinds of listeners with many different kinds of...

Can Audiophiles Embrace Science Over Religion For The Hobby To Have a Future?

There is a lot of truth here. Let's look at the other side of the equation, new content in the form of new music. It's just anecdotal of course but I'm seeing more and more varied kinds of new music these days that any time in the past 20 years. The barrier to entry is extremely low and...

    First Reflection Point Question

It looks like there is lots of free setup stuff still to explore, now that you have the microphone and have leaned to use REW, before you spend money on anything. There is one measurement I see that doens't use Audyssey and shows single speaker sweeps (so its one the few measurements we can...

    First Reflection Point Question

Looks interesting. A few things come to mind: 1. Set Audyssey aside for now and get things as good as possible without Audyssey. Otherwise you are chasing your tail. 2. Yes, run one speaker at a time when measuring to see what's going on. Later, you will run sub(S) + one speaker. 3...

Entertainment Centers: Scourge of Good Sound Systems!

I tend to agree. I like a little fire as much as the next guy but it seems like in most homes they are an affectation, and not good for one's health if used, anyway.

Entertainment Centers: Scourge of Good Sound Systems!

I kind of like them and they meet the needs of most people in a clean and tidy fashion. Sure there are bad ones, but there are just as many bad setups outside of entertainment centers. In fact, probably more bad setups outside of them, since people are forced by an entertainment center to at...

New SVS Micro 3000 - goes low, but how loud?

Don’t get me wrong I too think they will sell a lot and it’s not a bad solution for some applications.

Floor standing Speakers and "Building them in" vs. In wall?

Fair enough. 3 way versus 2 way is not how I choose a speaker. Rather, I care about response, directivity, dispersion, and output. Sometimes a 2 way wins this war. Sometimes a 3 way.

New SVS Micro 3000 - goes low, but how loud?

Fair enough. I'm just saying the notion that SVS is proposing, that a passive radiator is inherently bad, is disingenuous at best.

New SVS Micro 3000 - goes low, but how loud?

Marketing foolishness. Almost expected them to say ported subs are inaccurate and flabby, too, just to sell this new product.

Floor standing Speakers and "Building them in" vs. In wall?

You can certainly do that, but note that Klipsch has a "house sound" and B&W have a "house sound" and they are polar opposites. I understand being on a budget, for sure. I guess the question is: Have you heard either brand and loved it? If so, I would plan to go with whichever one you...
