    Car Audio: Hifonics amplifier

I have experience with one monobloc amplifier from Hifonics and it was definitely one of the better amplifier's I have used. When I got it I had never heard of it but I was very impressed with the amount of power it delivered and how well it drove a 12" subwoofer considering how small it was...

Thinking of getting a power amp.

I'm just going to repeat what many others have said but...if you feel you are missing something in the sound of your speakers then I suggest auditioning some speaker's other than Klipsch. I personally have only heard one set of klipsch speakers that sounded decent to me and they are very old...

Plasma vs. LCD - which is better

As somebody who hated ALL(and I mean all...Plasma, DLP, LCD, etc.) flat-screen televisions because I could see the pixels being drawn on the screen and motion always looked like crap on every single display I could possibly find at any store or at anybody's house that I know I can safely say...

    Recommendations for 42" Flat Screen

We ended up with the Elite and I am definitely not disappointed and wouldn't settle for anything less. I don't notice any of the problems that I usually see with most other flat screen televisions and the picture is beautiful. Thanks.

Thanks...I think at the moment we are swaying towards the Pioneer Elite.

    Recommendations for 42" Flat Screen

My friend and I are going to shop for a new flat screen within the next few days and right now it's looking like the budget is around $2000-$2600. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated as I haven't been up to date with any of the new TV's lately.

    Adcom Thermal Protection

The channel goes into thermal protection(red LED) after a few seconds of playing and the sound is cut from that channel only. It also does it with nothing connected to either channel(the light will come on after a few seconds of being off and it will go through an endless cycle).

    Adcom Thermal Protection

No luck anymore. It just quit working and now I can't get that channel going no matter what I do. I haven't messed with the solder yet so I'll see what happens when I get around to that.

    Future of Subwoofers 6"-8" excursion

It sounds like a damn lawnmower...I don't think musical notes could possibly come from that thing.

    Adcom Thermal Protection

Yeah it's great that it's working right now...I'm just afraid to put it back together too soon and have it not work as soon as I try it. It is possible that there is still a bit of solder overlapping so I'll continue to mess around and I'll be sure to keep you posted if it stabilizes and works...

    Adcom Thermal Protection

That is exactly what it is...the help is greatly appreciated and I'll definitely try to tighten them up to make sure there is good contact. I'm also open to other ideas because I'm not 100% sure that it is that particular chip causing the problem but from my messing around it does seem to be...

    Adcom Thermal Protection

On the top of the sensor it reads "IRF 610". That is the sensor that I was tapping on and removed a bit of solder from. It looks like there are 5 different sensors per channel.

    Adcom Thermal Protection

I'll go find a flashlight quick...I couldn't see it that well when I looked before. The reason I don't really think it's an actual thermal issue is because when it does go into protect mode it is as soon as I turn the amp on. It's been working for about 2 hours with a fan directly pointed at...

    Adcom Thermal Protection

Hi guys...I'm having a slight problem with my Adcom GFA-5200 Stereo amplifier and I'm hoping somebody can help. The amplifier works perfectly fine and I love it for my PC sound system but it goes into thermal protection on one channel once in a while. Now I need to specify what I mean by once...

    Pro-amps vs HT amps?

One plays the country western and the other plays rap. That's no subtle difference!

    Rare Earth Magnets

Yeah you're probably right about that but a more common example of this is like dave described which is referred to as knock. It is cause by running a fuel that isn't suited for high compression engines and as a result the fuel will spontaneously combust under pressure before the cylinder hits...

Connecting 3 subs via LFE input with only 1 LFE out on receiver?

I have found exactly the opposite with my Paradigm 90P's which have powered subs built in. I get better results and an easier setup by using only the speaker level inputs and dumping the LFE altogether, since I don't have a separate sub anymore. In your setup considering that you already have...

Cerwin Vega Clsc-12 Amplifier Help Needed

I used my PV-1500 to drive my CV E-315 tower's along with a 31-band GEQ with much success, especially in the bass department. The previous owner of the CV's was also using an old yamaha receiver and with that loudness knob you can really get a lot of bass out of them, much more than what I...
