Dolby Atmos For Home Theater Explained

It is not my intention to be the Grinch here, but the home theater market is shrinking, not expanding. Pioneer is leaving. Denon and Marantz are losing money. The odds of Dolby Atmos succeeding in the home theater market are very small. Like curved screen T.V.'s, this is an act of desperation...

Strange problem with my Denon 4520

I have been involved in this insane hobby since the mid 1970s, and yet I am basically a technical dummy. I post very infrequently, but appreciate the knowledge and advice from people here. Thank you.

Strange problem with my Denon 4520

When I first put it on, after 15 minutes or so, the source changes automatically. It always goes to the CD source. After I change it back manually, it doesn't happen again. Anyone have any ideas why this happening and what I can do about it? Thanks.

The Insanity of Marketing Disguised as Science in Loudspeakers

I've been involved in this hobby since the mid 1970's, but after going through this entire thread, it seems that measurements mean nothing, and a review only has value to the reviewer. I think I'm going to sell my speakers and take up knitting.:(

    Sony STR-DN1030 AV Receiver Review

In my almost 35 years in this insane hobby, I've made only one purchase that I seriously regretted. You guessed it: a Sony receiver back in the 1980's. Nothing but trouble.

    Denon 3313 looks great

Yes to both questions. Sorry about the AM radio mistake, but I read another review that stated the AM tuner was not included in the 3313. Still, I see no compelling reason to upgrade from from my 3312. I am anxiously waiting for the next 4XXX series.

    Denon 3313 looks great

Are there any sources to take advantages of the 4K upscaling? Why no AM radio? I actually listen to AM radio in the morning for news and business updates. For me the 3313 would be stepdown from my 3312.

    Indiana Jones - review

Personally, I loved the movie. Pure escapist entertainment for 2 hours. It was great to see Indy back in action. No one has commented so far, on Karen Allen's weight gain. I'm going to see it again, tomorrow.

    Sony manages to out-blow Bose!

Warpdrv: There is a time and a place to be an audio critic. That was definitely NOT the time.:D You should have invited her out to dinner and then taken her to your place to show her your big woofers.

Need help on which NHT speaker setup/combo to purchase....

I second what AVRAT said. My home theater room is 13 x 19 x 9. I have 6 NHT Classic Threes, a Classic Three center and an SVS PB12+2 sub. My receiver is a Denon 3808. With this setup, I can get extremely loud, low and clean. I have absolutely no desire to upgrade anymore.

Who are you rooting for in the DVD High Def format war?

I'm rooting for a video version of 8 track tape. :D Seriously, I don't care which one wins, as long as one of them wins. The longer this "war" goes on, the greater the likelihood that these 2 formats will suffer the same agonizing fate that happened to sacd and dvd-a.
